  decent hotel for short stay.

  Best points of this hotel are the views, backdrop and the garden with pool. i would not pick this place for a longer stay, mainly because the road between the hotel (on 50meters) and the sea; there is no nice beach close. breakfast was excellent, although service a bit erratic (one day great, one day chaos). good location to see the Cape nature park and visit some other spots; good value.

  Stunning Setting, at Simply great value for money

  Rodwell House is no longer a hotel, but is now rather a bed and breakfast villa that you can rent just for a function or for a long stay. - It is up to you. The service is very friendly, there is a chef on hand for breakfast, and the house itself is turn of the century opulence. - Even as a single person you are able to rent the house for a night (winter rates are incredibly affordable for the quality of the house, its setting and the proximity to sea and mountains.) You rent according to number of people - so less than 14 people do not have to pay for the whole house! -- - I would definitely recommend opting for ta sea-view room. -- If you want to live like a Rand Lord for a few days - this is the place. - One of the most famous tidal pools is at your doorstep - so don't forget your camera or artists canvass if you have more time. =- HIGHLY recommended...

  Absolutely wonderful

  A review I would prefer not to write because a hidden gem should be kept secret. But if you want service of the highest quality and wonderful accommodation, this is the place to go. Rooms are large, very luxurious and the setting is superb. I can't wait to go back. We felt extremely pampered yet a home away from home. Kudos to the team that run the place.

  Telephonic Assistance!

  I just called to get some information on the hotels opinion of the safety of train rides from Cape Town to Kalk Bay and was very helpfully assisted with some very good information - practical and to the point.   World Class Pricing, less than world class service

  We had an extended family gathering here, taking over the whole property. It is an incredible property, with huge guest rooms, a wonderful swimming pool surrounded by beautiful grounds. The location was great, walk out the back through the garden gate and you are across the road from the ocean and a tidal pool. (One of our party got stung by a jelly fish in the tidal pool so we did not make use of it very much) If you want to feel like you are on the movie set of the Great Gatsby this is the place to do it. Having said that, although the staff were accommodating and did respond to requests service level was not consistent with the pricing of the accommodation. To give some context we could have stayed in a five star hotel room in Manhattan for the price we paid per person per night at the Rodwell House. I don't know how to say this politely, but the house was dirty. When we complained some improvement was made but at the prices we were paying one would not expect to have to do this. One small example (and there were many), the first day I arrived I noticed a leaf on the main landing going up the main staircase. It was only after we complained that four days later the stairs and hallway were cleaned. The outdoor patio which was beautiful was sticky from spilled drinks and again only got cleaned after complaining. It was only after we had the come to Jesus moment with the on site manager that towels suddenly appeared by the pool, previously we had to bring them down from our room. This of course is not that big a deal but again at these prices, it should have been a given and it was indicative of the overall experience. It could be amazing and was still very good, but it was really annoying to pay exceedingly high prices (by south african standards) and not receive value for money. I would recommend anyone considering staying here have good communication with management up front and confirm what is and is not included before making any decisions.
