Wonderful Stay! After having multiple issues at a hotel in Digby, we decided to leave early and continue on with our vacation and travel to Yarmouth a day early. Extremely frustrated and emotionally down, we decided to call Rodd Grand Hotel last minute in hopes that they may be able to accommodate us that evening. No problem! The front desk guest services person was so friendly and accommodating. We had a king size bed overlooking the town and harbor-beautiful. Our room was close to the elevators for easy access with all the luggage we had. We always check the room out before settling; when we removed the sheets to inspect the bed, we noticed a stain (dry blood?) on the fitted sheet. We immediately called front desk and she apologized and said that housekeeping would be up to change the sheets, no questions asked. Housekeeping was very prompt, Id say less than 5 minute wait. She wore a mask which was appreciated during COVID. She changed all the sheets on the bed, not just the fitted sheet which we appreciated as well. She was very friendly and chatted with us while changing the bed (we wore masks too with six feet distance). In the morning, we went down to the lobby for the pre packaged to-go breakfast which was included in the price of the night stay. We were pleased with the choices offered especially with the current pandemic and limitations they have to work with. The front desk staff that provided us with the to-go breakfast was also very friendly. We asked if we could book the pool (due to COVID) and they had no problem booking us for two hours! Wow! Awesome! That evening, when we went to the pool, we couldnt figure out which door to use (didnt realize we had to go to the second floor to access the door). A friendly hotel security person saw us struggling on the camera and immediately came out to unlock the door we were trying to access, and provided us with information on how to access the pool for the next time. The only negative things I would say about the hotel which would be mostly suggestions: The rooms could use a little sprucing up; old stained carpets and peeling/stained wallpaper with multiple holes from where things once were hung. Suggestion for the pool would be to provide music? I understand that it would be difficult to accommodate all guests taste of music, but maybe easy listening or the local radio station. My hubby brought his blue tooth speaker to the pool and other guests (who regularly use the pool) even mentioned how much they enjoyed listening to music instead of the usual silence while doing their exercise in the pool. All in all, the hospitality of Rodd Grand Hotel was beyond wonderful! We had a great stay, comfortable bed, beautiful view, and would definitely stay there again! We will definitely recommend to others.

Back 10 years after retirementI used to stay at this hotel during my work travel days. It has not changed much since then but some room upgrades have been done. Small bathroom, old tile floor, upgraded rain style shower head does not work well as it is made for ceiling to produce rain like water. Replacing a reg style out of the wall , it has weak flow and is poor. Beds are great and 4 good pillows . Clean. Minimal room service during Covid , masks in common areas, restaurant closed. Bagged breakfast is provided.

We really wanted to like this hotelWe truly wanted to like this hotel. We noticed they offer romantic packages but with covid we went with the king room and took our own wine and wanted to support local restaurants so booked king room for two nights Friendly check inn and nice staff is why it gets a 1 star. So very disappointed with everything, cleanliness, damage to walls, holes in curtains, broken lamps, mould in bathroom (however there was a new bath insert) the shower water pressure or lack of made it impossible to wash hair. Mattress was disgusting but we were grateful for clean sheets. Chair in room was full of crumbs and under the cushion there was a gum packet and more crumbs. If your looking for a room for your hockey league then its probably ok, the hockey group staying on our floor, kids running up and down hall way, no masks, parents had a good rather loud get together in one room and yes walls are so thin you good hear everything! Not a peaceful weekend at all! The hotel restaurant food & staff Amazing, following strict covid protocols If you feel like delivery dont worry they can just ride up to any floor any time, We stayed in Yarmouth before and by far a much cleaner etc hotel is the Best Western (mermaid)

Best you will find in YarmouthAverage stay, no major faults, Friendly staff. In a town with mostly motels and inns its a decent hotel for a stop over. Yarmouth is a pretty town, even in the winter and the hotel is downtown which is an added perk.
