  Relaxing Stay

  We stayed at Rockwood Jan 8-12, 2019. It was good in all respects. I especially liked the seamless package of 2 meals/day, lift tickets, rentals, and transfers. The hotel accommodations are first class. The onsens were superb. Skiing conditions were excellent, but an advanced skier might find the slopes a bit limiting. Most runs are of the green or easy standard. I was happy. Almost no lift lines. I would gladly go back there. Rockwood is a quiet place, far from town, but arrival/departure transfers are provided. Not a place if you are seeking excitement. Great for relaxing.

  Great Stay

  We stayed 4 nights at the Rockwood Hotel & Spa in February. We arranged for pick up by shuttle from the train station and received a warm welcome on arrival. Throughout our whole stay the service was exceptional. Every single staff member we dealt with was incredibly helpful, for example with purchasing lift tickets, providing an English ski map and arranging for our luggage to be sent by "black cat" to the airport at the end of our stay. The room was spacious by Japanese standards and had lovely big windows to take in the fabulous views. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very functional. The ski locker room was warm and spacious and the hotel is as close as ski in/ski out can be. Wifi is free and very quick. Loved the ski area with a great lift system (including one gondola and two hooded chairlifts) and especially the green run that is 3.9km long - fabulous! Advanced skiers may become bored unless you are interested in side country or back country tours. There are a couple of black runs with a chair lift (no hood). There were no crowds and the snow conditions were fabulous during our stay.

  Love the Stay at the "only" Hotel...

  We stayed twice at Rockwood this season. Once in end of Dec and another one in early Feb. We picked this as there was no other options. That said, the hotel did not disappoint us! - While doing the booking, they helped organise jumbo taxi to pick up a group of 6 of us, which cost about 12,000yen - We arrived at 9:30pm, when we entered the room, we saw boxes of dinner and desserts placed on table which was really sweet of them considering late comers - Hotel room very spacious, 2 twin bed, and a sofa area which can be transformed to a 3rd bed - No humidifier which made the room really dry and I needed to get up a few times at night for some water. The hotel should consider putting one in the room - Breakfast and dinner included in the package in buffet style. Lots of varieties and they repeat the same menu every other day. Especially liked the dinner as they served crab legs, great choice of sashimi, but the best part is the apple sorbet, fresh sliced apple and the apple jelly cake! Aomori is famous for their apple products and they were all well served at dining table - A souvenir shop which sells only ski items and little snacks. They have vending machine at each floor or at the ski locker are. Not a typical convenient store many hotels would have - Indoor and outdoor onsen, very typical Japanese one, nothing special. Great they have water machine. - Ski in/ski out, just 2min walk to gondola base - On last day, we had jumbo taxi pick up at 7:30am to airport. We asked if the hotel could prepare us some sandwiches to go, they were very nice and actually opened the breakfast place 15min earlier to accommodate A pleasant stay, other than a humidifier, I have nothing more to ask.

  Great hospitality and food!

  We really enjoyed our 5-star stay at Rockwood. The hotel was gorgeous , cosy and comfortable. Big thanks and kudos to the team at Rockwood for their great hospitality and making our first ski experience so memorable. Special mention to Kenji-san and Daisuke-san for making Rockwood a Rockstar experience. A must-stay if you are in beautiful Aomori.

  Perfect family holiday in Aomori

  Our family (2yrs to 70yrs year old) thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Super sincere staff, delicious food and well planned customised itinerary, made this the best family trip weve been. The suite had a great view and to top it off, there is a private onsen. Ski, eat & soak everyday- cannot get any better! Special shout out to Kenji San & Daisuke San, who made the experience memorable. We will be back soon
