  Not easy to find

  After finally finding this place in the rain we parked and went into the hotel. We would have stayed at the hotel but the only rooms available when we booked the trip were rooms with shared washrooms, so we stayed in Friday Harbor. The front desk people are very nice and there's a comfortable but small fireplace lounge area. The gift shop had some very nice items for sale. We didn't visit the other shops in the harbor area due to the rain.

  Outstanding Stay in Every Way

  We visited as an anniversary get away in March. Great historical preservation. Superb personal service. Great food at restaurants. Room was spotless and charming. No in room TV was actually a plus! So tired of talking heads. Beautiful setting and environment. We give it a 5 out of 5 in every category.

  Village Houses are very nice

  After months at home, we were excited to get out of the house for a few days and escape to Roche Harbor. We rented a 2-bedroom village house, Skipper House, to ensure we had an isolated environment not sharing HVAC with other units, and an outdoor space to socialize with friends. They seem very attentive to operating as safely as possible during the pandemic. I was pleased that they clean and then leave the unit vacant for 24 hours between guests. The houses are new construction, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and utensils. There was a barbecue grill on the back patio, and nice seating on the front porch. The bed was very tall and very comfortable, there was plenty of drawer space and a huge walk-in closet, and lovely bathroom with double vanity. A washer/dryer is also in the unit. The comfortable living room had a flat screen TV, sound bar that we could hook our iPod up to, and some board games. The pool is closed, and we didn't eat at the restaurants, but it was handy having a small grocery store onsite with a nice selection of wine. Check-in was quick and easy, and checkout was contactless, just leave the keys and go.

  Boating destination

  Roche Harbor is a beautiful destination for a boater. There is plenty of space at the guest dock. The kids can play boche ball. The gift shops are filled with unique San Juan Island items. There is a lovely walk along the water, and the gardens are lovely. We had a delicious lunch at the Hotel de Haro with the best calamari I have ever tasted, and I have traveled the world.

  Poor customer service

  Tried to book a house for my family for 4 nights. I contacted the reservation folks and asked if there were any off season specials. There werent so I replied and asked if they could match the Expedia price which was 10% off homes so I could pick the unit. Anyway waited a few days and no one got back to me so I booked an AirBnb. I was surprised that the reservation folks at an upscale place like Roach Harbor night didnt work a little harder for a potential customer looking to spend 2k especially in the off season and during a pandemic.
