  Fantastic fresh cocoa juice, but poor and slow preparation of food (lunch)

  We had heard about their fantastic fresh cocoa juice and went there to have that. As we came around lunch time we decided to also have lunch. It however took 1 hour and 45 minutes to get the lunch and when we finally got it we did not get what we ordered and the meat was over cooked and very chewy. On top of that we paid EUR 60 for the lunch for 2 adults and 2 children. In comparison we got a fantastic 4 course dinner with wine and coffee at the restaurant Mionga for less.. The Eco Lodge looks nice and clean, but we did not check out the rooms. Were told they only cost EUR 60 including breakfast.

  Best service in the island

  We stayed 5 nights at Roça Santo António after a 2-night stay at a city hostel. After traveling the whole island of São Tomé, we're sure to have made the perfect choice. The location is great. 20-25 min away from the city of São Tomé. 10 more, maybe, from the airport. From there you can easily travel each day either to North or South as we did. After leaving the N2 you get to do 200m of dirt road. Then you get to this brand new tastefully designed place surrounded by green. There is beautiful main building with a terrace facing the swimming pool and on the opposite side, also facing the pool, a row of 5 rooms. We've stayed in one of those. It was a very spacious room. Spotlessly cleaned everyday. Staff was sweetly friendly, always with a smile and with a genuine will to please. We had dinner 4 evenings. It was really practical not say very enjoyable to relax at the terrace, have a couple of beers and experiment either national or more Portuguese based cuisine. Cachupa was great! Breakfast is also served in the terrace. Plentiful and varied. Great natural juices. I'm sure when we go back to São Tomé we'll stay in Roça de Santo António again. Thank you to all the staff who made us feel so comfortable, for all the details and help, specially the manager Ângela, who's making sure to provide the best service in São Tomé.

  Best for a romantic getaway

  Very serene environment. Great service from the workers . Very professional and some speak very good English. Very friendly and patient. Good internet service. Picture worthy environment. Very clean environment. Worth visiting

  Beautiful Ecolodge

  Beautiful environment with organic food serving. I remember my toothbrush I used over there was made out of bamboo. Nice and great manageress & waitress. Angela, the Manageress & Wilmer, the waitress gave me so much of her time as we had to use google translator in communicating in the absence of Angela because she happened to be the only one who can speak English.

  Left hungry at the restaurant

  We visited Roça Santo Antonio to have a lunch before our flight back home. Unfortunately we left hungry. First they didnt have menus. So the waitress wrote on a piece of paper peixe (fish) or lambo (lamb) with no prices. We placed our orders for grilled fish then and there. 45 minutes after the waitress comes to tell us that we have to wait another 20 minutes as they still havent put the fish on the grill. They were not busy as everyone else finished their lunch. We said we cant wait for an hour and asked to pay for the drinks and the couvert. She didnt acknowledge and just went off to call manager. The manager came and said it would take a few minutes. He has not apologised at all. We told we have to leave in 20 minutes. 15 minutes later and the fish still hasnt arrived, so we asked for the bill which they didnt give us, so we just left 20 euros and left for two cokes, a bottle of water and couvert. The manager was nowhere to be seen. It is unacceptable to wait for more than an hour for grilled fish which takes 10-15 minutes to prepare and to receive no apology. Also an establishment should really have printed menus available!The staff only speaks Portuguese. I have some knowledge of Portuguese, so I was lucky that I could communicate with them. The Roça advertises on all international website should have English speaking staff or warn guests that they cant speak any foreign languages.
