Wellness and SkiGreat place to relax and recharge your energy! Very friendly staff! Perfect for couples when only one likes going skiing. I enjoyed the day skiing with a friend in Soelden (40 min by car) and the girls relaxed in the spa. After the day in the mountains a grate spa (sauna / massage) and dinner were a perfect close out!

Awesome as usualThis was our second visit to Ritzlerhof, unfortunately one day fewer than we would have liked. The service is attentive, personal and on target. Never too much, but always knowing your background- I didn't expect to be 'welcomed back'. Located on the hill it is isolated, quiet, private and perfect. There are lots of activities from the hotel - cycling, walking, etc. not to mention the hotel's own offerings : a daily changing programme of yoga, meditation, aquarobics and more. It's impossible to be bored! We relaxed wonderfully in the well-appointed suite with a view of the valley. Excellent food and service made our stay one we want to repeat again. We will definitely be back.

Wellness Hotel in nice locationWe stayed for one week in the Ritzlerhof, the facilities are all you wish for, indoor pool and sauna very nice, outdoor pool not heated. We booked with3/4 board. Breakfast was very good, afternoon snack average, evening meals got very boring after the third night. We decided to take our main meal outside the hotel. Drinks are overpriced, not many good affordable wines available.

Mummy, When I Grow Up I Want To Own A HotelThe staff at the Ritzlerhof were all pleasant and helpful, and the mountainous location striking, with some beautiful walks starting right at the hotel entrance. The building is modern and in excellent condition, although generally agreed to be lacking somewhat in 'gemütlichkeit'. Whilst the a la carte restaurant was attractive (although this did not actually serve an a la carte menu) the main restaurant was not dis-similar to that found in the better class of motorway service station. Regarding our stay, there were issues that we and others experienced that made us feel both uncomfortable and unwelcome. The cold reality is that this hotel appears to be run solely for the benefit of the owner and his family, regularly reserving the best table in the restaurant and the best seats in the bar, whilst guests are seemingly little more than an annoying necessity. The hotel is rated as 4-Star Superior, but this did not appear to reflect the actual facilities or levels of service during our (curtailed) stay, which were distinctly sub-standard. Other concerns included, but were not limited to, unruly and noisy children in what is supposedly an adult-only hotel including several children clearly under the age of sixteen in the spa and sauna, contrary to the establishments own rules, the placing of us in a room inferior to that reserved and agreed to with no option to remedy, the attempt to forbid dogs from the restaurant on certain days when such access was agreed at the time of booking, the outright non-availability of any food at lunchtime, the limited availability of reception (or, indeed, of any type of assistance out of hours) and, perhaps most seriously, the constant demands of the owners family to the obvious determent of paying guests. Indeed, what shocked us and others most was the apparent support by the owner for the actions of one specific family member, who, whilst openly admitting they had no involvement in the ownership or management of the establishment, was repeatedly officious, rude and arrogant towards hotel guests, seemingly with the intention of making them feel intruders in her own personal domain. The result of this was that many guests (us included) felt genuinely intimidated and consequently left the hotel prematurely. As far as we are aware, no attempt was made to dissuade the individual concerned from such offensive behaviour, nor was any attempt made to persuade those electing to leave prematurely as a consequence to remain. Additionally, one couples elderly mother was not permitted to remain in the hotel with her son and daughter-in-law over the Christmas period on the pretext that the house was full, which it quite clearly was not. We, nor any of the other guests we spoke to, would ever return to such a place (on the assumption that it is able to continue as a sustainable business, which, under the current ownership, seems most unlikely) and would counsel anyone considering staying at the Ritzlerhof to deliberate carefully before committing. The quote at the head of this review was taken from a Swiss newspaper article about the hotels owner, who is some sort of IT consultant. I rather suspect he will soon be reverting to his previous role.

"4* S (?)A nice and authentic 4* hotel in a small village near to the highway. Not specifically destined for the ski sport as distance to the skislopes is rather far away. In the village itself the most elementary things can be obtained , but for shopping and dining the nearby ( 5KM ) city of Oetz is well equipped. The hotel is situated on top of a hill sothat a car is needed. Parking space is enough, but during our stay all parking places were iced and quite difficult to walk on. The master suite was spacious, but the interior decorating was quite simple. Bathroom nice and with bath, shower and sauna. The wellness area was cosy and equipped with outdoor sauna, bio-sauna and steam room. The hotel is categorised as 4* S, however the kitchen performance does not warrant the "S ".: a) the breakfast self-service counter has all the normal ingredients, but lacks variation and imagination : every day exactly the same, b) the 5 course diner has during our stay been of mediocre quality also lacking any imagination or finesse. Moreover the restaurant has a sort of cafetaria furnishing, while in a 4* S hotel a more cosy and luxury environment might be expected. The service of the young staff was friendly and correct. It was finally remarkable for a typical Austrian holiday hotel that the couple managing the hotel did not mingle with the guests at all. Concluding : a good 4* holiday hotel with nice facilities, but without the "S "qualification.
