  Good and Convenient Hotel as Base for Visiting Rishiri Island

  This hotel is located opposite the Oshidomari ferry terminal in Rishiri and is a leisurely 3-4 minutes walk away. Also the Soya tour and local buses stop at the ferry terminal making transportation around the island easily accessible. There are some eateries inside the terminal on the second floor as well as a sushi joint across the street serving popular uni (sea urchin) rice when in season. There is also a small convenience store across the hotel which sells some fruit and vegetables as well as seafood plus snacks and drinks. There's also two rental car companies and a gas station within the same area. We stayed in a Twin tatami room which was fairly big, and easy to layout 2 mid sized baggages with ample room for carry ons and bag packs. The bathroom with attached bathtub is quite big and has a good shower with ample hot water. There is also an indoor onsen (hot spring) pool in the hotel with gender segregated baths. When we were there in October a lady at the front desk was able to communicate with us in simple English as well as some of the wait staff in the restaurant. The hotel offers a breakfast and evening meal plan. Breakfast is mainly Japanese food with limited variety. There was no bread or cereal when we visited in October though there was some yoghurt, fresh milk, fruit, vegetables and ham. On the other hand the evening meal was sumptuous and offered many fresh seasonal ingredients from the sea such as scallops, hokke fish, abalone, stingray, octopus, squid, prawn, hairy crab, etc. with some of them served sashimi style and some cooked, braised or used in soup. Wifi is available in our room as well as the restaurant and lobby and speed is reasonably fast. The hotel closes in late December just before Christmas and reopens in late April the next year. In conclusion, Rishirifuji Kanko hotel is a good base for those planning to climb Rishirifuji mountain or exploring treks around Himenuma pond and beyond. The public bus from the ferry terminal takes about 5 minutes to reach the drop off point by the roadside to Himenuma pond and from there it is about a 40 minute walk to reach the pond. This is a convenient hotel to stay in if you are relying on public transportation to visit the island.

  Heart to heart Servicè.

  This hotel was really impressed me by their taughtful service to the guests. Last Atumn,when we reached the hotel, weather was quite bad,raining and wet. The front desk staffs came out helping us to unload all our luggage. The staff make an introduction of their hotel facilities while leading us to the room that we had reserved. Amazing!the room was clean and big attached sea view, importantly no cigarette smells of it. We had a delicious dinner in their restaurant. Fresh sashimi,sea urchin,hairy crab and rest was provided in the meal, portion was just nice. After a night of rest, my brother found the hotel pillow suitable for his neck size and making him had a good rest of it. So he went straight to the front desk checking the hotel side whether can sell one to him. The staff told him not for selling in the hotel but he can bring my brother to the factory and ask for it. Follow up this staff really make an effort bring my brother to the town looking for the supplier. Unfortunately the supplier's factory no longer making same kind of pillow,currently using different material for the same pillow. My brother expression was very disappointed and empty handed back to the room. Later, we check out from the hotel, the manager gave a used pillow for my brother as gift as he knows from his staff, my brother had a neck problem, he hope my brother can use it in our trip ( as this is just 2nd day of our 3weeks trip in last Autumn) Hereby, i would like to highlighted was not because of the gift (although is a used pillow) most importantly is what we can found from their taughtful way to the hotel guests. The staffs and management was really go to that extend for helping guests to fulfill their needs while staying in the hotel although by just staying for a night. We r really touch by them of their heart to heart services. Thumbs up! If one day, i'm visiting Rishiri island again, this hotel will be my first choice in my list of staying.

  Great stay!

  Stayed for 2 nights. Hotel is close to ferry terminal. Room is spacious and comfy. Able to view Mt RIshiri and Cape Peshi room. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast is buffet-style and has a good selection. Staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay her again if I revisit Rishiri Island (for the sea urchin!).

  Nice bike trails to take around Rishiri, excellent traditional see food

  The hotel is located near the Ferry terminal with a nice view,... on the Ferry terminal. As always in Hokkaido, the welcome is warm and smiling. My booking included a traditional Japanese style bedroom with futons, breakfast buffet and dinner which is served rather early (latest 6:54pm). If you like seafood, you wont be disappointed by the quality and variety of products that they will offer including soups, sashimi, sea urchins, etc. Unfortunately the bikes which they lend for free are a bit heavy which could be a problem if your ambition was to use them to climb up the mountain. The electrically assisted ones are available for a fee and for maximum one hour and come in limited numbers. There are various trails starting from around the hotel if you feel like going sightseeing. The Onsen located on the ground flour, is worth a visit after a harassing day hiking to get clean and relaxed; hanging out in the hotel wearing the fresh kimono that they put at your disposal.
