  Lovely hosts, quiet surroundings

  Stayed one night here. Helen was lovely and accommodating. The bed was super comfortable and the place left us feeling refreshed. Nice touch with canapes and wine before dinner. Breakfast was delicious and filling

  Amazing accommodation and hosts!

  A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend and I had the honour of staying at this accommodation! Helen and her husband are friendly and provided all the luxuries we could have possibly wanted for our first night in NZ! Would definitely stay here again! The breakfast was absolutely amazing - words cannot describe!

  Serenity

  We came to Hanmer Springs for a short getaway to relax, refresh and unwind. Rippinvale Retreat deliver all that and much more. The studio was comfortable and cozy, the bed was amazing, the breakfast fresh and superb and the garden and spa simply melted the stress away. John and Helen are wonderful hosts who knew how to make our visit what we needed and having the bikes to meander around town and ride the lovely forest single track topped it off. We will certainly be back!!

  Relaxing, rejuvenating and romantic

  Thank you Helen and John for your fantastic hospitality. We very much enjoyed meeting you both and your warmth and kindness absolutely made our stay. We felt so warmly welcomed and spoilt from start to finish. The bed is so very comfortable, a selection of pillows of varying thicknesses add to this. The snuggly bath robes and the spa at the most perfect temperature made for the perfect winters evening. Helens attention to the finest detail is evident throughout, from the fresh baked biscuits and full tea service on arrival to the very full breakfast in the morning, the home baked spread was all delicious. We could not have wanted for more...except to stay longer.

  The breakfast was a big disappoitment

  After reading the very good reviews we had big expectations, especially about the breakfast. Unfortunately, is was a real disappointment, as all the food served to us was loaded with sugar (caramel slice cakes, jam, yogurt, cereal, even the fruit was in some kind of sweet syrup). It felt like 3 deserts were served at once. No proteins, nothing not sweet. For someone, who doesnt eat much sugar, there was not much to eat. It is a pity, as we could see, that the owners put a lot of effort into preparation of the food, which all tasted the same sweet. There was also lack of privacy, as there was no curtain in the bedroom. The rooms were serviced when we were there (beds were made, and rubbish removed) but the place was not vacuumed. On the contrary, the shower was excellent and the spa pool was also very nice.
