Great hotel who lokked after us after a bad experienceStayed here for the last 3 nts of an 11nt stay in Kallkan. We had initially booked for 11nts at the Kalkan Suites but the manager had bouble booked our room for the last 3nts and had tried to put us in inferior accommodation to which we refused. After a lot of 'debate' he eventually found the Rhapsody for us, which we visited and the staff on reception were extremely helpful, allocated us a very nice room and advised us on what to do next. This hotel was very modern, had a lovely pool area and was omly a short 10 min walk into town down the 'Kalamar' road. This was a 5th time in Kalkan and we normally stay in Samira Exclusive but I would definetly stay at the Rhapsody again.

NOT AS GOOD AS OUR PREVIOUS VISITMy wife and I stayed at the Rhapsody for three weeks in August. We previously stayed at the hotel two years ago and don't usually return to the same location. However, we had such a lovely holiday during our last visit we decided to return. I booked our stay at the begiining of the year directly through the previous manager of the hotel - Antonia - who we discovered several weeks before our visit no longer worked in the hotel. Although the hotel remains spotlessly clean and bedding and towels were replaced on a daily basis, the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. There was little choice, the cereals were unrecognisable and cutlery and napkins were not always readily available. The majority of the staff did not always appear to be helpful, although i feel that this was because of their basic lack of English and they certainly didn't seem to care when some Turkish guests replaced food back on to buffet after taking too much and then deciding that they could not eat all of it. The lack of English spoken by the majority of the staff certainly caused a couple of problems during our holiday. One lunchtime i ordered a tuna sandwich and got a chicken sandwich. No big deal but the barman had checked a couple of times that i wanted a tuna sandwich. However, when speaking to an English lady around the pool one day, she told me that she had told a waiter that she had a mushroom allergy and ordered a meal with no mushrooms, the meal contained mushrooms. Another member of her party had a peanut allergy and once again informed the member of staff but ended up with a meal with, guess what, peanuts - very naughty. Outside of the hotel restuarants are plentyful and of good quality. Our favourites were The Brothers, Aqua and Porcini's - all on the Kalamar Road and Baharat, Kaya's and Coriander in the old town. We also ate at the Kalamaki Chinese restaurant three times - very tasty. We enjoyed a few tipples at Pasha's, where we were entertained by the barman - Rambo - his puppy - Pepe and the cats. We travelled over to Kas a few times and spent a day using the Rhapsody's sister hotel, although the hotel didn't seem to be as good as the one in Kalkan. All in all a good holiday but the hotel could be better managed. PS For all of those who knew the previous manager-Antonia - she is well and now has a baby daughter Acelya. Her husband - Ilhan - still works as a masseuse but is now based at the Palm Beach Club at the other side of Kalkan we met them at the club on a couple of occasions and my wife and I had a lovely massage. They also invited us to their home, where Antonia cooked a very tasty meze. It was lovely to meet up with them again.

Great location, fantastic view but....... completely disorganised and needing attention, think old Travelodge with a pool in the sun, it could easily be so much better. Arriving around midnight found some lights not working, shortage of pillows and crockery; which admittedly was all rectified the next day; but not what you want after a long day travelling and immediately indicating a lack of management. This was further demonstrated on our penultimate day when after a day poolside we went up to our room to find it not serviced, then approaching sixpm the doorbell rang door immediately opened to reveal a very surprised looking member of staff who then offered to clean room. It was not because we had left our do not disturb light on, why, it didnt work, more likely we were leaving at 4.30am so they hadnt bothered, they certainly weren't busy. The whole hotel; apart from the pool area which is pristine; is in need of attention with leaky shower cubicles which because of the in room style meant that the laminate floor was starting to peel, several failed/shattered glass balcony panels and loose trim. Breakfasts varied, dependant on who was staying, from very well stocked with pastries, chocolate cake, fruit and cheeses to lacking in that the bread and juices had to be requested refilling which would have been seen had the inexperienced staff emerged from behind the counter. We believe that lack of management/supervision is the main issue as you often walked in to find the desk un-staffed so free access to the hotel and on occasions no one to supply clean pool towels even when the bell was rung; why; they were in the restaurant having breakfast. The sun-bed coverings are in need of replacement and pool towels varied in standard, fortunately the weather was excellent so made things seem better and the hotel is well placed for an easy stroll into town but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle, a nice quiet place to relax. It would not take a lot to sort things out, maintenance, decoration, close management and more experienced staff then Rhapsody would be a very pleasant place to stay. When first refurbished it was undoubtedly a very nice hotel, sadly no longer.

Disappointed7 years ago we stayed at the Rhapsody. We had such great memories staying with my dad who sadly no longer is here with us. We loved it so much that my mum and I decided to go back this year. And oh my what a disappointment. Only One member of staff spoke English, which is unacceptable in a hotel business when the majority of the clientele is English spoken. So much so that at breakfast when I asked if something was vegetarian they didnt understand me so I didnt eat it. This is a simple requirement for staff of a hotel to understand a simple question such as that. Speaking of the breakfast this was extremely disappointing, so much so that we didnt go back after the first day and ended up paying extra to eat in the town. No variety. Boiled eggs were actually black! And when I asked for some more baked beans as they had run out, they brought me a plate with stone cold baked beans on straight from the tin. I then had to ask for them to heat them and they looked at me like I was mad! We had a lovely view from our room which was probably the only positive part of the hotel. But our balcony window looked like it had been smashed with a rock but when I mentioned this they got very offended and said it was a design feature even though there Were only 3 rooms in the hotel with this feature. To finish off damp in the room with all the paint falling off and also the not so lovely feature of polystyrene on the walls of the corridor. After so many great memories at this hotel from last time we were so sad to have been disappointed in this hotel. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
