  Nice hotel, excellent hosts, quiet area, close to Aachen

  If going to Aachen again chances are more than good that I'll stay at this small hotel again. I arrived late at night, actually after closing time. Still the host arranged for me to be able to access the hotel and the room. They even made me an excellent chicken salad with bread and great local beer to go with it for me to eat as a night meal in my room even if the kitchen was closing down for the night. The room was small but had the most important facilities: a comfortable bed, a small table and a couple of chairs in addition to bed-side tables and a cupboard for the clothing of course. What really stands out is the bathroom. Must be newly renovated. Great design! Compact luxury. Its not Hilton, but its nice, personal and with great value. The breakfast offered great variety and far more than I could cover. The locale is facing some of the back side of the village, with e.g. the church and a couple of large trees on a meadow sloping down towards a small river. Nice, quiet surroundings. I was in a hurry, so I didnt have the time to check if the kitchen offered other coffee. The coffee on offer at the breakfast was from a machine. The only small thing Id like to change. Everything else was great. Id be happy to stay here again.

  Charming

  We loved this beautiful little bed & breakfast with cozy rooms with a great view of the rolling hills. We ate dinner there & it was well worth it as it was delicious. Breakfast was a great Buffet style with everything we could have wanted & more. My only warning to older guests is there is no elevator so you need to walk up stairs. But the beds were comfy with a large bedroom & terrace where you can see for miles. We would go back without hesitation. We really fell in love with the area.

  Surprisingly good

  We booked The Vijlerhof for a short trip , we wanted a hotel near Aachen, so I was looking for a decent hotel for a decent price near the city so we could visit the Cathedral there. The hotel was a lot better than the price suggested, we paid a very low price on one of the booking sites. The rooms were quite large and very clean, with a fairly large flatscreen tv with plenty of channels (dutch german , english , french and more), also free wifi , without going through the hassel of passwords etc. A lot of hotels could learn from this, usually the offeringsof tv and wifi are quite dismal. The breakfast was very good , and the evening meals excellent. Tip: try the pork with mustard sauce, and the regional wines. The surroundings are beautifull when it 's not misty like on our stay . We have agreed that we must visit this hotel again.

  perfect spot for a weekend

  We've spent 3 days at Vijlerhof. Purpose of our trip was to go hiking in 'the Dutch Mountains' and Vijlen and the hotel is a perfect 'base' for it. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, one feels immediately 'at home'. Rooms are very clean and comfort is ok. Only minor thing: our room was located in the front of the building which made there was rather much noise early in the mornings from the cars passing by. We choose the local ingredients arrangement and were really surprised by the quality of the food.

  A diner

  A diner for two on a Saturday evening. Food was good ,products superb way of preparing a bit old fashioned. Local wine was excellent. Restaurant was fully packed and noisy still service was reasonable but could be more efficient.
