  Romantic Retreat

  Elegantly renovated hotel tucked away in the trees of Echoland area. Fantastic to have Onsen on site and being just around the corner of many restaurants and bars. Super friendly and helpful staff, who made our stay very pleasant. Also the breakfast buffet offered a big variety and made the whole stay perfect. Only downside is that there's no pick up shuttle from Hakuba Station.

  Excellent service

  Initially booked for two nights but extended our stay with them. The rooms are simple but they have what you need. Rooms are also newly renovated and spacious but suited to families instead of couples- we slept on single beds and there was a fixed bed side table between the beds which meant we can't push them together. It wasn't the cheapest place to stay, however they do have a concierge that will endeavor to assist. When they don't understand they have access to an interpreter via video call. They have free shuttle buses running between the hotel and the ski fields and a free shuttle service to pick you up and drop you off from Hakuba bus station or hakuba JR. Overall we were really please with our stay with them and would definitely stay with them again. One thing that was a surprise was the bath tax that was added to the overall bill. It was just not the cost but the fact that it wasn't mentioned till we checked out.

  Very helpful staff

  The facilities are quite basic but as most people, we come for the skiing so that's more than adequate. For Japanese standard our room is very spacious. The onsens are clean though compact, and the outdoor one is good with views over tree tops and very warm water. The hotel is about a 10 min walk from the Tsugaiki Kogen ski resort, which has excellent slopes suitable for beginners like us. What we appreciated most of the hotel however are the helpful staff. We arrived without booking any ski lessons (a big mistake) and they went out of their way to try find an instructor for us. They also gave us some vouchers for equipment hire and lift pass, which we reckon have saved us 3000 yens each per day compared to prices we found on the internet (the vouchers are probably quite standard and available at the reception, but they are in Japanese so we wouldn't have known what they are otherwise). On our last day they asked without prompting where they could take us with their minibus to help make our next connection, which is very kind. All in all would definitely recommend.

  Find another hotel

  We have been traveling around Japan and we have enjoyed a lot hotels on our trip. However we can't say to have had a pleasant stay at La Foret in Hakuba. The room we had was quite big - especially for a hotel room in Japan, but it was very filthy. There were dust and filth in every corner also in the bathroom. The carpet on the floor is not to be stepped on without socks or shoes. We asked for help with the internet (there was no internet eventhough they said there spild be) in the room at the reception. They told us the could not do anything about it. We wont recommend this place - unfortunately.

  Excellent service! The owner/staff were very helpful and nice.

  we stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The staff including the driver were very helpful and nice. The staff can use English. They helped me to book snow mobile and arranged transportation. Highly recommended to visitors who would ski in the region especially those who do not driver as they provide shuttle bus and car park. The twin room was clean, tidy and very spacious. The blanket could be a bit thin according to Japanese standards. The hotel also provides indoor and outdoor onsen. The hotel is about 20 min walk to Tsugaike Ski Area if you do not take the shuttle bus.
