  Could do better!

  My husband and I stayed in Residenza Giancesare last month, enjoyed immensely our visit to the temples at Paestum and our first visit to the Cilento area. We enjoyed our stay in the countryside, with a wonderful pool and pleasant garden, but were somewhat disappointed with the standard of accommodation, our apartment was pretty bare and in a modern building. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with only bottled vitamin drink, and packaged cornetto and jam on offer. We would have loved to sample some fresh local produce. Also, there is an error on Google Maps, which links the website for Residenza Giancesare to information about another business in the same area, which is confusing

  Nice hotel with lovely garden

  Well, it was not so difficult to find the hotel with the directions provided by the hotel owner. The hotel is located a 5-minute drive from the main S18 road. Don't need a gps to find it. The hotel is located in a very nice setting and located very near Paestum (15min drive) and Agropoli (a lovely sea-side city, at least in summer season when we were there, 25 min-drive). It is a good place to discover the beautiful Cilento national park, at least the north and central sections. Very quiet neighbourhood. The rooms we stayed at (rooms 6 and 7) were in a separate 3-floor building with balcony overlooking the Paestum plain. Nice view over the fields to add to the relaxing feeling. The rooms were very spacious. They had a large living area with a table for 6 persons, a two-seat sofa, TV (didn't try out the TV), and fridge (always great to have this in warm countries) . Next to it was the bathroom. The bathroom is basic but okay. No shower cabin but a bathtub. A curtain to close off the bathtub would be good so as to avoid a wet bathroom floor. The bedroom with air conditioning was also spacious and gives a bright feeling, also because the bedroom leads to the balcony with two chairs. It's always great to have a balcony to close off the day. Everything was clean. The pool and garden are just wonderful and the highlight of the place! The pool (with a separate pool for small children) is big and very well-maintained. The terrace around the pool is covered with nice, and also here well-maintained tiles. There are seats, high-quality and comfortable deck chairs, tables and sun parasols. And then there is also the garden. Very old olive trees and other fruit trees in the surrounding gardens, giant palm trees and a large grass field with here and there cute fountains. The ideal place to relax and to start the day. But, there is also some room for improvement. The breakfast is rather poor with just a pre-packed 'cornetto', biscotte, jam, cake (tasty!), coffee and water. Some orange juice, fruit and yoghurt would already make a big difference. Or fresh bread / croissants like we had on Sunday. We would also have appreciated a more frequent change of the towels. No need to have them changed every day to save the environment but a fresh big towel every two days would be good. Anyway, these minor points wouldn't refrain us from coming back!

  Family stay in Paestum

  I highly recommend the stay at B&B Residenza Giancesare. We (2 adults, 2 children in the age of 11 - 12) have been warmly welcomed by Laura (daughter) and Antonio who did everything to make our stay a great experience. We stayed in their appartment Nr. 7, which has a nice view over the valley. The children loved the comfortable and clean Swimming pool as well as the well-taken care of garden. This place is being managed with love and passion, this really makes the difference. A very recommendable Agriturismo experience! Thanks to Antonio and Laura

  Return visit for the third time !

  Just like 7 years ago we enjoyed the beautiful pool and garden ! The temples of Paestum are very nearby and we were able to listen and see two music performances between the beautiful temples! Also the beach is nearby, 10 minutes drive by car. We ate and saw the sunset by beach restaurant Nettuno and beach restaurant Laura , both good and friendly staff. Hope to return again !
