  Firstly important this is no longer a Best Western hotel. Very nicely situated. Close to train station and old city eating houses. Great spacious room. Good wifi. Very good breakfast but as before the breakfast room a shambles if too many dinners, be aware this seems to be worse on weekends or holidays.

  Central location

  My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is clean, receptionist speaks good English, breakfast had plenty of choice and it's handy having use of a car park which has direct access to the hotel. We obviously didn't read the small print as this was 9 per night extra. The hotel run a green scheme where you put a bag outside your door if you don't want your room cleaning and you are rewarded with an edible treat in your bag! Novel idea. There was no tea/coffee making facility in the room but there was a machine In reception that you could use freely 24/7. We didn't use the pool or sauna but the hotel do provide dressing gowns in the room should you require them. We expected individual quilts / mattresses as we've lived in Germany previously, but we actually had 2 beds together which made having a 'cwtch' uncomfortable. A minor gripe! Lovely room, good double glazing so no traffic noise, we were comfortable and slept well.

  Excellent stay in Detmold

  Turned up tired on motorbikes and were greeted by helpful staff. Once the motorbikes were in the secure garage we went into the very clean and comfortable rooms. We the went into the nearby town centre which was nice and busy. A good hotel in a great location, plus the best breakfast we had on our trip. Would definitely stay there again

  Good Hotel

  This hotel is from the location and the rooms a typical best western hotel. The room that we had was big and clean and we were happy to be located towards the innen court. The pool was the absolute best part. After a long walk, we relaxed at the pool. The only negative point was the breakfast. The hotel has 4 stars, the pool 4 stars along with the room but the breakfast was only 2 stars worth. The quality would have been there, if only the staff would have done their job. On the first day we were there at 10:00 and everything was pretty much empty and old ( breakfast until 11:00 ). On the second day we were there at 9:00 and it wasn't better. I asked four times for certain articles to be filled back up and finally gave up. The staff walked around, looked like they were working but they didn't see that most of the tables were dirty and that the buffet need to be refreshed. I know that the hotel could do better!!

  There was someone in our room

  We checked in before going out to see the city. When we went to our room later there was someone sleeping in it. The only staff available was the security guard, he had to call someone to come in. It took about an hour for them to figure out what to do, while our 3 and 5 year old children slept in the lobby. The room was clean but the air conditioner didn't work. Hot and sweaty night. Our party had 5 rooms and only one had a working air conditioner. The front desk didn't do or say anything. I wouldn't stay here again and would not recommend it.
