Frozzie-deluxe
Overrated, overpriced. This is a typical elder dame from an older era. It has a certain charm and cachet which unfortunately is skin deep. Our suite had a reasonably good view towards the mountains. Old, tired and uncomfortable furniture, stains on the sofa. The worst part was the extremely noisy creaky floorboards. Whenever one went to the toilet during the night one woke up the other. Flimsy curtains that let through most of the light in the morning. There was a huge hose connected through a hole in the window to an air cooling machine. The glass and been replaced by a sheet of plastic and the second window could not be closed. Hence noise coming from the street. The restaurant had some very good points and some very bad points. See separate review.

Wonderful experience with exceptional staff !We stayed for a week at this super hotel in Bavaria. The highlight was two wonderful meals at the 2* Michelin restaurant which were both magnificent. However everything else was also perfect, with wonderful breakfasts and a super room. Special mention must go to the genuine warmth, professionalism and skill of all the staff, from front of house to housekeeping to masseur.. This was beyond what we have experienced in many other hotels around the world. Bravo to Herr und Frau Winkler !

Hotel is good, restaurant is quite good!We booked two nights at the Heinz Winkler on a referral from our sons friend. The hotel is older and not the style we generally enjoy. No elevator, very tired decor, no A/C. Staff was friendly and helpful, but I couldnt help feeling I was staying in 1965. The surprise was how good and up to date the food was. It has a 2 Star Michelin restaurant and the dining experience was excellent even though the dining room was out of date. Service was professional but not too stuffy. This place is not for everyone but if you can look past the outdated, it can be a good experience.

Incredible | I felt like a princess!I can't describe how beautiful and luxurious is this place. I can't decide whether it looks more like a fairytale or a vintage Hollywood movie. Staff is so welcoming and kind which instantly brightens up your holiday. And the rooms are stunning! They are so big, cozy and elegant. Not to mention the views of the mountains which are simply breathtaking. I even had a private elevator to the room! The whole place is so well designed and I especially loved huge windows and the garden. The spa was also incredible with the interior pool in the ancient style. I felt so relaxed while being there. The sauna was also amazing! Of course, the food was very special. The whole experience is amazing and unique, especially the dinner. They really take time not only to present the food in the best possible way but to make you feel royal. They have an excellent collection of wines in their own wine cellar as well. Breakfast was my personal favorite since they served so many dishes! I even enjoyed a glass of champagne. The whole area of Chiemsee is stunning and it is very close to the accommodation. I especially recommend a boat ride on the lake at sunset. It is one of the best experiences I have ever had! All in all, it was an incredible few days and I was so sad to go home. I hope I will be back one day :)

Beautiful historic hotel with 2 star Michelin RestaurantBeautiful hotel in a historic estate. Really beautiful decor and rooms. We loved all the wall paintings and the awesome lounge rooms. The bar/cafe lounge had beautiful views of Aschau and the mountains. The cigar/smoking lounge had a huge range of cigars available to purchase. The spa wellness area looked very picturesque, though small. Absolutely stellar, very accommodating service. The hotel staff was amazing. Nice little touches like fresh fruit and chocolates in the room on arrival. Beautiful rooms with nice sheets and fluffy pillows. Very clean. The restaurant, though pricey, is pretty good. We loved the beef cheek dish the best. However, this is an older historic hotel. Some rooms dont have elevator service. And the parking situation is a little difficult with not a lot of spaces. The garage is 15. But the overall price for accommodations is very affordable for such a highly rated hotel and restaurant.
