    VALMOREL

I stayed in Planchamp area, Cristallin apartments apt #53. It was a 1 bed studio for 5 ppl. The sleeping area was a sofa bed and a pull out bed in the living room. The living room had a portable heater as it gets cold in the night. There was a vacuum as well and ample cupboard storage. The bedroom had a bunk bed with a pull out bed and aheater in the room. The blankets was duvet style but the pillows was lumpy and horrible. There was a led tv in the room with a remote control. The toilet is separate from the bathroom. The bathroom had a bath and a shower. Good shower pressure. Very Clean. There was storage behind the door to hang clothes and also 2 shelves. The sink area was spacious and had a big mirror as well has a mirror behind the door. wooden floors in the bathroom. There was a heater under the sink area. The kitchen had a cooker with 4 hobs. It also had a grill oven which was fantastic. No microwave. The apt had a kettle and a coffee machine. It had a mini refridgerator and a dishwasher. It had many pots and pans in excellent condition. There was plenty of cultery, plates, bowls and cup. The balcony was spacious and also a good view, but on this occasion there was snow on the roof so visual was about 50% but would look amazing if there was snow on the roof. The apt was based at the top of the building. The building had no lift and there was definately many flight(S) of stairs. If you have a lot of luggage be prepared to carry it up. the ski locker is down in thew basement an you need to go down 2 flight of stairs to get there but you can step out of the locker area ans straight onto the slope and also you can ski straight back to the door of the ski locker room. The apartment location is great for ski in & skiout as you can ski straight down to the main lift. The apartments was on the mountain side and therefore no cars had access to it so you would have to take the telecabin up to the apt and drag your luggage to the apt and up some stairs if you was not on ground floor. There are no shops near these apts so you have to take the telecabin down one level for the supermarket Sherpa or down to levels to go the main town area where there are many sport shops & sherpa & spar & bakeries. The reception for these apts was one level down and a 5 min walk.

    Good for budget travel

Valmorel is a pretty ski location favourite with families and this hotel is amid the available holiday rentals. The apartment served well a family of 5 although location of the apartments vary so access and ski in/out may be different from one apartment to the next. We have one on the slopes with a nice view of the piste. kitchenette was well equipped for a self catering vacation. 5 single beds (2 of which serve as living room furniture - so an evening move-it is needed to make them into a make shift double bed. The only downside is the logistics involved - the reception is about 5-7 min walk from the apartment block. Towels are not included (7 euros per towel for the week.... expensive). Upon check-in bed linens are given at reception (free) and needed to be carried to the room (if free then why are they not waiting for you in the room...). Reception is not open in all hours so if you have an issue to sort out then you need to arrive at "opening hours". Reception staff are helpful. Overall for the balance of price vs. quality this hotel scores 8+ on my vacation rental scale.

    Great value for money

The apt was clean, modern and reasonably equipped with kitchen ware etc. There was a nice balcony and it was in a prime location right on a traverse. On the whole, much better than I expected for the money. Lots of hot water too for long soaks after a day on the slopes.

    Enjoyable

The apartment was simple and had everything we needed for skiing (other than wifi - which the website said was available). The views were breathtaking and the resort is lovely. It's a short (5 minutes) walk to the village centre where the restaurants and shops are.

Our first ski trip this year

I always like skiing in Valmorel. The residence allows for ski in/ski out which is what we love. The accommodation meets all basic needs. It would be great if there was someone available to manage noise at night (we were told to phone the police). The parking charges are quite high, it would be nice if they could be reduced.
