  great hols at residence du golf, meribel

  our family of 4 spent 2 weeks at the residence du golf for xmas 07, we were quite lucky with the snow conditions but even so were very impressed with the location and appartment. The location is ideal for exploring the 3 valleys and the flat itself is right on the edge of a nice blue run. The appartment looked to have been recently refurbished and was nicely decorated. Our room was nice, very warm with good strong shower and decent sized bath, the only english speaking tv channel was CNN which made you want to scream after a while! We took our laptop & DVD , was great for backing up photos and listening to radio. The ski hosting was absolutely brilliant and has to be the big selling point, great fun and we covered far more miles than we would do on our own. Lunch stops weren't the cheapest but always great quality. It is a long walk to the village centre (easier to ski down & get the lift back!) but to be honest there's not much reason to leave the altiport. There were a small supermarket within 2 mins and restaurants and bars 10mins away with free shutle bus. we had a great holidays!!

  Bad experience??

  We stayed at Le Golf for one week from 31st January 2015 and our first impression wasn't great. It had been snowing for quite some time before we arrived and it continued to do so for all of our journey to the apartments (the journey took around 6 hours intstead of 2). After having to abandon the car 2 miles away and take shelter in a bar we realised that the check in closed at midnight. We tried to call all three numbers we had for the apartments (2 of those were emergnecy numbers) but there was no answer. So we found ourselves stranded in a bar not knowing whether we would be able to get in. After getting a taxi to the apartments we found that they had left a key out for us but we travelled all the way there on the off chance that we would be able to get in. The rooms were sufficient for our stay and ok for the price we paid (I would take your own both towels if staying at these apartments and they also only provide a blanket per bed and a sheet which aren't comfortable). After 2 nights stay we were asked for 200euros deposit for the apartment and an additional 18euros or so for some sort of tax!! We were not previoulsy advised that we would need to pay this and although you do get the deposit back,m we were shocked that the receptionist had just come up to the apartment demanding money for a deposit that we didn't know about and he could explain what it was for. They also told us at this point that we would not be expected to clean the apartment before we checked out. We came back to our room the day before we was due to leave to a note stuck to our door which said that we would have to clean and hoover, take any rubbish to the bins and take sheets and towels to a laundry room before checking out. I was also disturbed by the fact that they asked us to fold the bankets we had used all week and put them back in the cupboard (it didn't appear that these were being cleaned for the next guest). The only good things about this apartment was the location in relation to the slopes (a couple of minutes walk away) and the fact that there was a bus stop right outside that takes you in to the main centre every 15 minutes or so.
