idealWe stayed here this past week for a family and friends ski week.it was ideally location for ski in ski out.basic but ideal for skiing. Pool was great for a swim before dinner in town.both families were fully intending to book for same week next year only to be absolutely horrified the price jumped up a full 100 per cent!!!!!!! For that it would need FULL refurbishment. What a shame as the location and accommodation is so good.

Good location, basic accommodation, helpful staffWe stayed in one of these apartments for a week on a family ski holiday. The location's great. My boyfriend and his son who already snowboard could literally walk a couple of steps across the road and board down to the ski-lift from there. However, I've been told this is not always the case. Depends if it has snowed or not. If not you'd have to do as I did, a first-timer, it was a little more awkward but there is a regular free shuttle bus up and down the hill, and we regularly walked into town every evening (when we didn't have all the ski gear), only a 10 min walk. Staff were very helpful and spoke great English. Reception hours are limited but do the job. They have a boulangerie morning delivery service where you can order your pastries and baguette the day before and go collect from reception in morning. Very helpful and tasty. I found the accommodation basic and in need of updating. The mattresses had seen better days and we had to put down several layers of duvets to avoid springs poking into our backs. The doubles were also quite small in size but adequate. No particular mod cons, you have to pay extra for TV (no English channels), although there is a dishwasher (remember to bring your own dishwasher tablets). We had a great view over Valloire. Our balcony was one of the smallest so you could only really hang out there one person at a time, but that didn't bother us. Other apartments' balconies were bigger. The heaters also desperately need replacing and electrics checking. The heaters which are all old electric ones basically only had 2 functions that we or the reception guy could get working, either "of" or "full blast". So we had to fiddle a bit and accept being either too hot or too cold sometimes. Also the fuse box blew twice. No idea why. Pool area basic but good and open most of day. Valloire itself is lovely. A small old village that still has original features and charm. The slopes were pretty good and the restaurant options lovely, all a bit pricey but to be expected I suppose. As far as I can gather these apartments are only cleaned by the residents after each stay. This to me is not ideal as overall cleanliness over time is bound to be not that good, and how clean the apartment is upon your arrival depends on the varying standards of whoever was there before you. We certainly left it a lot cleaner than we found it. Would have preferred to pay a little extra for a professional cleaner and not spend the last morning of our hols cleaning. Overall good. Will probably see if we can find something of a slightly higher standard next time though.

Friendly but Filthy!Very tired accommodation - my pet hate of greasy smelly pillows and duvets! Staff tried their best to help but had run out of duvets and pillows so lumpy and worn or hard as nails! Great location and super friendly staff. You get what you pay for....... beware of extras to pay for - towels and linen - makes a cheap deal less so!

overlooking the resort - ski in + ski out facilityCheap appartments + abit tired and knocked about. But the views are excellent and the pool is great, the staff are lovely and you can ski down to the lifts easily. You can ski from the main ski area back to the accomodation if you are good enough but otherwise you can take the bubble from the ski area to the resort and then take the ski bus back up to the accomodation. You can easily walk into town from the appartments but be warned .... its all uphill when walking back.....

Shockingly disorganised reception but quite well situated and nice enough roomsOn arrival on the Saturday afternoon (after an overnight train journey from London) there was only one person at the reception who was trying to deal with crowds of skiers all arriving at the same time. It was utter chaos; several people began to argue, shout and make threats because they'd been waiting for more than 2 hours just to check in and get their room key. We waited 4 hours during which time we had no access to a shower or place to change our smelly clothes. Our luggage was dumped in the corner of the room all afternoon and people were forced to sit on their luggage. The receptionist (a lady) was, rather unsurprisingly, aggressive, incompetent and rude and told us we wouldn't get our key if we didn't leave a credit card deposit of 700, even though we were not the ones who had made the reservation. It really was one of the worst check-in experiences I've ever had, a process which is supposed to be relaxing and easy. There's a small & rather chilly pool in one of the buildings (the one with the reception) which is only open for 2 hours a day and closed on Wednesdays and Saturdays and is constantly packed with splashing and screaming children (who also used the sauna and steamroom despite the "no persons under 18" sign). The changing rooms were a messy disgrace. The residence is divided into 4 completely separate buildings, spaced quite far apart, so if you take the bus back from the slopes, you still have to walk for 300m with your skis and boots... The apartments were fine but nothing special, the tv didn't work and linen and towels were extra. No wifi was available in the rooms, only at reception, and was too slow to do anything except check emails. It would honestly be less stressful and more rewarding to pay a bit more and stay in a proper hotel. The weaknesses need to be addressed in time for next season.
