Excellent location, does exactly what you pay for. After reading a variety of negative reviews about this place, I was apprehensive about what to expect. Fortunately the majority of reviews proved to be inaccurate in their extent of complaint, when compared to our actual experience of the residence. Although, they did provide much amusement to read! A group of four of us came to Val d'Ière for a snowboarding holiday and we stayed here. I consider myself a realistic person and for what we paid, is exactly what we received. The reception staff were very friendly and we were provided with all information clearly from day one about the general running of the residence and where we could find everything in town. My first impression of the room was better than I had expected. It was small, there is no denying that but as I said, you get what you pay for. The room was clean and has all the amenities required to spend a week there self catering. The location of the residence is perfectly situated in the centre of the town, close by to the slope access and a variety of shops and bars. A local primary school sits opposite the place and some excellent views of all the surrounding mountains. The only real negative I would say is the storage space for your winter equipment. We had 4 sets of boots and snowboards and they only just fit in the storage locker, it did what we needed it to but it was rather like a game of Tetris organising them all into the right place to fit. I would recommend this residence for those who are wanting a place to stay whilst they enjoy a winter break, if you are looking for a 5 star hotel, I would suggest you pay more and go to one. However, if you just want someone cheap to stay, that has a place to sleep, prepare food and shower, then this is the place for you.

Stay awayI wouldn't normally leave reviews but I need to warn you off staying here. Due to the apartments not being cleaned in-between stays, and having no bed linen provided on arrival, we picked up a virus within 12 hours of arriving which kept all four of us in with terrible sickness. The bunkbeds snapped when we sat on them on day one but again due to reception never being open, this was unable to be fixed. When leaving, the apartment was tidy and clean as we had bought all sorts of bleaching aids to kill our virus, however we were still charged £150 out of our deposit with no explanation. Terrible, terrible place not matter what you pay, its not worth it. (also no access to wifi anywhere)

worse than a festering squat, comparable to a 1960's council tower block in The GorbalsWe were booked into this dump by Inghams [who we would never use again after this nightmare]: Inghams were well aware that the place was terrible, unsuitable and filthy, but booked us in here regardless. We were horrified to discover upon arrival that the "accommodation" is actually much worse than the worst reviews on Trip Advisor (per 2014, 2016 or whenever). Besides the fact that Les Jardins de Val is dirty, smells, is pokey, dark, dank and furnished with old worn out furniture from what must have been the French version of a 1960's council house: fundamentally there were are only 2 small stinking dirty 1960's bunk beds for my kids, and no bed(s) for any adults! There were also no duvets, no bedding, not enough pillows, and the room was cold on the only night we could bear spending here. We were only given filthy old scratchy blankets. I ended up having to sleep on a small flea ridden mouldy sofa, and got a sore back as a result. The pillows had someone else's hair, and what looked like dried blood on them. I spoke to the Inghams rep, who appeared to be quite friendly and polite, and was going to look for alternate accommodation, but clearly she had no authority to do any such thing from Inghams, so she simply stopped responding to texts and emails as of around midday the following day. As we are left with no other choice, as fundamentally we simply needed actual beds to sleep in, and the place was disgusting: we booked ourselves into the Hotel Kandahar for the rest of our stay for Euros 350 per night. This was actually a lot cheaper than the GBP 357 per night that Inghams had charged us to stay in this revolting dump, with not enough beds!!?? (The Hotel Kandahar is really very nice, clean, modern, helpful staff and highly recommended). The Jardins du Val tried to charge us for towels, Soviet Gulag style blankets, wifi etc. After a lot of arguing: Inghams refused to pay for alternate accommodation or refund us. We could not be more damning of this place. Its horrible, and should be shut down by the French authorities. Don't stay here!!!!

Avoid- Dirty- Dated- NoisyQuite simply the worst ever place that I have stayed. The apartments are very dated , grubby, tiny and representing something from the past like a 60s ghetto! My room was on the ground floor with a road at the front the entrance doors to the sides and the ski boot room at the rear so surrounded by continuous noise. Really noisy. The whole place smelled musty and uncared for. My apartment was supposed to accommodate 4 persons - what a Joke 2 at best and then cramped. There was dirt everywhere - extractor fans filthy, bath stained, flooring stained. No bedding provided except flimsy sheets and some over blankets which actually wreaked. I contracted a virus with the first day of my ski holiday which I am convinced came from the dirty bedding. Kitchen tap broken, shower head not fixed to the wall, basin taps dripping, various light bulbs out, no one to meet you on arrival, no one to contact at the resort, phones not answered If ever there was a case of mis selling then this is it. Totally unacceptable in this day and age - social media will getting to see all the photos to prove the place is a dump. I will be writing directly to the CEO of Odalys enclosing photos and evidence of all the issues. I feel completely ripped off having paid over £1600 for 6 nights ! Avoid.

Choose Somewhere Else...We booked this place at short notice, they did (albeit very slowly) respond to emails and it is relatively close to the slopes / town. This is where the positive points end. The traffic was poor and we tried over ten times to call the property to warn them that we'd be arriving late and nobody answered. When we arrived, we eventually found the key but this was lucky as we hadn't been given any information. The car park, which we had booked, was locked. We were later told "we could have a refund if we wanted, but we aren't allowed to park there". We then had to find parking, late at night, at great expense. For a relatively expensive property it was dirty and poorly equipped. We were told that there was cooking equipment, bedding and that it could definitely fit 5 people, as it was big enough for 7. When we got to our "apartment" there was dog mess on the balcony, the pots and pans were dirty and there was old food in the fridge. There wasn't even a kettle, there was no oven, the TV only turned up to volume 19 (if it even turned on), the sofa kept collapsing, there was virtually no bedding and most people had to sleep on the floor or on the sofa. When we eventually managed to speak to the staff, the guy on the desk was incredibly rude, abrupt and unhelpful. You would be lucky to find staff for an hour a day, as the reception is pretty much always closed. After two days the lift stopped working and wasn't fixed for the rest of our two week stay. We were on the fifth floor and received no apology. The steps were never de-iced and were absolutely treacherous (much like the route of the hotel to the Main Street). Overall, this is one of the worst value for money properties I have ever come across and I hope that they lose even more money because of this review, than we have lost hanging around in this horrific dive.
