The location is great. Everything else not so muchThe location of Les Balcons is amazing. It is right at the doorstep of the ski lifts at Les orres 1800, and one could practically ski in and ski out when the snow is high. It is also minutes to the town centre of Les Orres 1800. However, the location is the only good thing we have to say about Les Balcons. The flats had one major striking flaw that made our holiday simply miserable; the disgusting beds and pillows! The beds were antiquated and very hard, definitely not comfortable after a whole day of skiing. The pillows look like they hadn't been replaced in half a decade and lacked any firmness whatsoever. The apartment was also very dusty, the cleaning supplies were left stranded in the middle of the living room, and the room looked like it had last been used in the last decade. Les Balcons could use a lot to improve itself but given it's great location, if their management sets their mind to do it, Les Balcons could be a good 4 star apartment. But for now it is a sorry 2 star.

Les Orres is great, but DON'T stay hereThis places likes to take as much of your money from you as possible. The rooms come with a TV, but they'll charge you 7 euro a day to use it. They advertise free wifi, but this is in fact only in reception and when more than a few people are using it cuts out or goes super slowly. They tell you to leave the apartment clean, but they give you nothing to clean it with, there wasn't even a dish towel, dish-washing liquid or sponge for the dishes, so we had to buy all this ourselves from the overpriced resort supermarket. The location is close to the slopes but it's on main road at the resort so when we stayed we had drunken revellers screaming and shouting outside our apartment till 3 in the morning. I loved the ski field but definitely would NOT stay here if I'd known what a rip off it would be.

Superb location and resortYou can't really get much closer to the pistes, lifts and ski school than this and also enjoy quiet at night time yet a stones throw from the restaurants, bars, ski hire shops etc. Very friendly staff at the accommodation, restaurants, lifts and everywhere else. Great entertainment on offer too - fireworks, a ski jump display and light display. A great atmosphere and not overpriced like most French ski resorts. The kids loved the pool and we loved the sauna too. A generous size, clean and never too busy. A much prettier spot than 1650 but that's also a great place to ski to and enjoy lunch outside and watch the world ski by. Hardly any queueing at the lifts, despite being half term. The kids loved getting their ski badges and passports and were only too happy to go to ski school. The food everywhere was great and if you want to explore, there are plenty of lovely places to eat and drink in the mountains. The last lifts shut at 5, which is also a great bonus compared to Austria where they close at 4 as it gets dark earlier there. It was perfect for us 2 adults and 4 kids and we thought it was a bargain too. Plenty of suprisingly long runs that the kids could do without them being boring for us adults yet also plenty of great reds and blacks for us advanced skiing adults. Will definitely be going back. Perfect location, fantastic ski conditions and pistes and at a great price. A holiday to remember.

Superb location, but poor accommodationSkiing in France finally, no f****ng waaay :))))) We were out of our minds after an agreement with our friends to go ski in French Alps, because we started talking about if we are going to ski this season at all, or not. So we were talking and taking into consideration Slovenia, Austria, Italy, but WOOOOOOW we agreed for France, for a family and friends skiing. The best deal of our lives if you ask me. The price of the whole arrangement, which included an accommodation in the small family apartment, together with the ski passes was more than cheap! There were plenty of pros for taking the long trip to France, with 8 days of stay, 7 days of skiing and enjoying the Alps to the fullest. The only con was a long and expensive trip, consisted of hours and hours of driving, lots of liters of diesel burning and also a lots of road tolls paying. But, you only live once, so what a heck ;-P Anyway, to cut a long story short. We arrived in the late afternoon, it was dark already of course. The trip was pretty OK whereas all of us grown ups with kids were not so tired nor anxious, because of so much driving and being stuck in the car for more then 12 hours. The place and location look great, everything seems more then OK for start. The check in was somehow not so easy to accomplish, meaning that the addresses of a criss-cross apartment buildings are so messed up, where the building where we had our apartment is on one side of the street and the reception of that particular (and lot of others) apartment is in the building across the street. But, it was not problem at all for us, believe me. We did not mind the fuss at all. I mean, man we are in the France, in the Alps, almost on top of the mountain and for sure, feeling like on top of the world!!!! And now the spoiler. Well it has to be a spoiler in every good story, don´t you agree? The apartment was cozy and spacy enough for the four of us, two kids, one of nine and second twelve and mum and dad. The Apartment layout is great, the view from the big glass balcony door was more than amazing, the "oldish" looking furniture, made from a raw wood, which btw we loved about it, but has somehow neglected view and touch and all other stuff regarding the apartment was mainly OK. But the real spoiler was dirt, hair, food crumbles etc... from a past occupants, which made look the cool apartment filthy! That was somehow sad and made us disappointed in certain way. But OK, we took care of all that, cleaned it through and through in all the possible ways and after that, the apartment was as new and we sincerely loved it for a next 7 days! The best thing we enjoyed for days, were the slopes, which are so natural, so great in every possible meaning you can think of. The nature, the mountain peaks, the air, the sun and everything!!! The slopes are natural and clean, well maintained and not crowded at all (thank God!), unlike the slopes in aforementioned countries which we considered to visit before and beside the France. Les Orres is small and pretty ski village, with all the needed infrastructure one would need for the time of staying there. Despite the lack of cleanliness of the apartments and also lack of parking places, everything else is really great and enjoyable and let´s hope that we´ll get a new chance for visiting Les Orres!

SCAM ARTISTS - ***THIS IS AN OVERPRICED 1 STAR HOSTEL***Me and 9 friends booked through a third party to attend a skiing festival in Les Orres. We were told we had been "UPGRADED" to better accommodation as one of the main artists for the festival event had dropped out. I can sincerely say I have stayed in better hostels... Upon arrival we were not greeted, but told we needed to put down 100 Euros PP as a deposit for our stay. We were given keys and that was it. The rooms didn't even have the absolute BASIC AMENITIES, there was no toilet roll, no linen, no soap. The rooms were TINY, and for 10 adults, including 6 tall men this was unacceptable. We were told we would have to pay for linen and towels, something you certainly would not expect from a "4 star hotel" Throughout the stay we were met with rude staff and further dissatisfaction. A week after we had returned to the UK, we became aware that Les Balcons des Airelless had taken over £600 worth of our deposit, it took multiple attempts for us even to receive a statement of costs. The costs were totally unfair and ridiculous, one example was that some kitchen utensils and cups had been lost. We did NOT get an itinerary so how could they possible claim these items were lost/broken. Another ridiculous cost was for a sofa bed which was cracked, we noted this on arrival and took multiple photos. These photos were not even acknowledged as proof we did not break the sofa bed. Every single claim we contested, they did not offer an explanation and REFUSED to comment further. I think it is disgusting that this hostel is allowed to operate in such way I certainly will not be recommending this place to anyone I know. They used our deposit money to fix and replace items that we were not responsible for loosing/breaking as they are cheap and think they are above the law.
