Making Meribel affordableI have stayed here five times. The apartments are adequate for budget skiing and probably the best option in Brides-Les-Bains. The lifts and corridors look a bit tired, but the insides of the individual apartments are fine. Having said that, the apartments vary. I think they are all privately owned and rented out as time shares, so some have nicer decor than others. The basic layout is consistent, though, with a storage cupboard and a bunk bed in the passageway next to the bathroom, leading into the lounge/diner which has a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a fold out double bed. The kitchenette is adequate with some or all of the following: (depending on the luck of the draw) a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and twin hob. The village pub is opposite which serves good pizzas to eat in or take away, as well as cheese, ham and potatoes melted/baked/roasted in various combinations. There is a fantastic boulangerie 100m up the road which is open early enough that you can go to get your daily bread, have your breakfast croissants and make your picnic for the day and stil lhave plenty of time before the gondola up the mountain opens at 08:30. It is a 5 minute walk to the gondola and a 20 minute ride to Meribel.

Clean and affordable! This a great affordable option for skiing the three valleys. My partner and I have just returned from a package holiday with Crystal. The apartments themselves were immaculately clean! Seriously for what we paid, we were impressed! Really well equipped for self catering too, we even had a hand blender and salad spinner! (not that we sued them!) The sofa bed was super easy to pul out and put away. The little balcony was a great addition. It was a really cosy little apartment and we would definitely stay again. The Spar is a short 2 min walk away, but is tiny and a little pricey. If you can, head to the supermarket in Meribel and then catch the bubble. Brides les bain is a very quiet resort, so if you are after lots of apres, you'll be in the wrong place. Hotel Amelie is the only place we found happy hour. The bubble is a good 5 minute walk (uphill) so I would really recommend paying 20 euros for the lockers at the lift station. Much easier to walk downhill in your shoes and not ski boots. The Olympe bubble ran on time and the 5.30pm cut off wasn't too bad at all. We certainly didn't feel we missed any skiing because of it. The wifi was good too, we managed to stream some you tube episodes of our sitcoms. You do need your own towels, but they do provide bedding and it is included. We only ate out once at Pizza Man La Cabane and we would also recommend this place! Only a few tables, but great food and very friendly! Booking advisable.

Basic S/C Ski Offer. Loved my week in Brides-Les-BainsAll other reviews still fairly accurate wrt accommodation, location, facilities, gondola. Most bars, Spar, Brides Thermal Spa within 2 mins walk. Spa is pricey at 30 but could be worth a visit midweek to loosen off stiff muscles) Le Fabrik opposite - great little sports bar and separate restaurant with great pizzas/calzones/burgers 10 to 15 with more expensive Savoyard dishes on offer - all great. Hotel - Amelie - for Apres-ski drinks serving HappyHour drinks until 6:00pm. Inside stylish and outside seating with heaters & firepit. Restaurant/Pizzeria - che Rickette behind Le Fabrik & Hotel Amelie - serving Tartiflette, Savoyard and Pizzas dishes. Had an incredible Fillet de Poulet au Camembert for 15. Not many tables so book if going at a busy time. Back to accomm - would be very cozy for four. (Two of us.) Wi-Fi did not reach our room - no loss there. Not great privacy with sliding bathroom door opposite the double bunks. With the two electric hob plates cooked two meals no probs. If kettle and hobs on at the same time may trip the circuit breaker - reset by pushing back in at the consumer unit beside the door. Kettle, coffee, fridge, dishwasher, perculator, toaster - all good. Remember dishwasher tablets, scourer, tea towels, tea bags, salt/pepper. Taxes included in the Crystal price and no deposit to pay. They say to check and query the room inventory within 48 hours but no ones going to check unless you manage to break a lot of stuff. Most of the crock is different stuff anyway. The ladies in the Nexity Agency are really helpful - just smile, try a bonjour and theyll do their best. AlI locals really polite and friendly. I loved my week there and Brides informal and small town feel. Also way cheaper and easier to get about than Meribel for the sake of a 20 minute gondola ride. Would definitely go back!

Don't be put off by appearanceAs you enter the vestibule it would be easy to think that this is a tired drab building. However, once inside my room all was well. It is clean, tidy and although I think it would be a squeeze for 4 people it was perfect for my needs. Pretty much everything you need is available for self catering. All shops, restaurants and ski hire is within 5 minutes walk and just a further 5 minutes to the Gondola to Meribel. ( without ski boots) Some things to bear in mind that Crystal ski, who I booked through didn't tell me about. You need to provide a £300 deposit on arrival. The "reception" is at Nexity which appears to be an estate agents situated about 100m away You will need to bring your own towels and toilet roll/ cleaning products. Or buy them from the nearby Spar. All in all s very comfortable and pleasant stay.
