Skiing holidayNice apartment. Great pool and spa. The walk to the lift in the morning isn't too bad, but at the end of the day it's a bit of a trek. They supplu3d towels. inventory check list at beginning is a bind.

Apartment compact but comfortable, spa facilities amazing! Two families (5 kids) hired an apartment for a week for skiing in April. Within walking distance of the cable car (if kids not wearing ski boots - you can hire a locker from Roland Gay at Samoans 1600m). Very smart and clean rooms, little compact but everyone had just enough space. The spa was brilliant, with swimming pool, two jacuzzis, two steam rooms and two saunas all free to use. Staff friendly and helpful, highly recommend.

Great LocationThis property is in a great location if you do not have a car, it is a 5 minute walk from the lift and 5 mins from town. We would recommend that you hire your ski gear from Roland Gay then you have an option of renting a ski locker at the top of the lift which means no lugging your ski gear and walking in ski boots everyday, great if you have kids, it made such a difference to our holiday. The Chalet is comfortable and quite compact but a 6 person was perfect for a family of 3/4 but would be cramped for 6. There was only a few negatives for us, we arrived at 1pm and although we were told that reception opened at 4pm, we did not quite realise that we would not be able to access the building or store our luggage so we had to take all our luggage into town with Kids in tow and it was freezing. This could have been communicated better and a storage facility would have helped. The Spa is really nice but the swimming pool is just not warm enough and the hot tubs are not hot enough so this could have been improved. The sauna and steam were both lovely. If you like to eat out at night and it is peak season, ensure you book your restaurants in advance otherwise you will not get in. All in all we had a lovely stay.

Good hotel with very poor cleaningGreat location. The hotel is quite nice. The staff is helpful, they called us prior to arrival to check when we were arriving and to inform on reception opening times. When we arrived we were told that our apartment was not ready and we received an upgrade. Very good service! I put a three because the apartment was VERY dirty upon our arrival! The floor was not washed, not even swept and there were large chunks of dust lying around. The bath towels and sheets were not very clean as well. One towel had black stains on it and we had to return it to reception. The others did not have large stains, but definitely were far from clean white towels you would expect at a four star hotel. I was happy that I brought a towel for my kid with me, I definitely would not dare to use their towels for kids. Also if you happen to choose a two floor (3 bedroom apartment) be aware that the heating upstairs does not work as well as downstairs. While downstairs was pretty hot, upstairs was quite freezing at night. Overall great location, ok hotel, good service, very poor cleaning.

Good position between town and lift.We stayed here for a second time in late March as a group. Grandparents and two families with young children all in adjoining two bed apartments. This sort of arrangement gives everyone a little privacy while making family meals and interaction easy. Two of the best things about the Reine des Pres are the position midway between the town centre an the ski lift with neither being very far away and the big pool/Jacuzzi area. Samoens is a beautiful place to stay in the Spring with small children as it is at the bottom of the valley and snow free so strollers etc can easily be pushed around town and to the sports/play park. The town centre is authentic and not full of chi-chi shops and bars. The apartments are compact but not as small as many French ski resort ones with reasonable storage and in the case of the 2 bedroom ones we rented at least one room has an en-suite shower room. Ours were on the ground floor which helped with young children playing outside. The hob, microwave and dishwasher are all very modern but without full instruction difficult to operate if you are not used to them. Skiing in the Spring means a late lunch and not much skiing after it as the snow is too slushy but the large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish baths were great for winding down in the late afternoon. Negatives - a undecipherable central heating system but as the weather was warm and the towel rail very hot this did not matter. Wifi was not good having to log on each time and only one user per apartment. In conclusion a convenient good value base for a Spring skiing holiday.
