Very happyRoom was comfortable. A/C was ultra-quiet. Bed slept well and covers weren't too warm. Nice sofa in the living room. Apparently parking isn't free, but they didn't charge me. Front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. 100% covid19 compliance throughout the hotel. Hand sanitizer in the elevators. Location is convenient. Overall, hotel could use a remodel. It's an old property, and it shows in places.

January 2020The room smelled of burnt cigarettes, urine, and skunk. I couldn't sleep and called the front desk around 2am and explained the smell. The front desk person and the person that she was training came immediately with a cart and loaded my luggage onto the cart. Immediately, they noticed the horrible smell and said so. The front desk person, who was training, said the room should have never been ready to rent and that house keeping should have informed the front desk about it. After they moved me to the new room, I stayed in that room for 20 weeks. The bed in this room had a very dilapidated mattress, that made it difficult to sleep. I asked the front desk person during the day shift for an extra firm mattress. His response was that "We don't have any extra mattresses." He didn't know what extra firm meant. I switched to sleeping on the sofa which was extra firm as is without pulling out the sleeper sofa. Once, while my room was being cleaned, which takes 3 hours due to the pandemic, I left to go get something to eat and walk around. I had to use the restroom but due to the Covid pandemic, all the public restrooms were closed. I went back to Residence Inn to use the public guest restroom on the first floor near the front desk. As I came in, the front desk person began yelling at me "Your room isn't ready." I told him that I came to use the restroom here on the first floor. He said "Oh." I went into the women's restroom. It smelled of poop and urine, because one stall had a lot of poop and urine in the toilet and had not been flushed. The restroom in general was filthy. The other stall looked okay to use. After I was done, I told the front desk about the dirty condition of the restroom. He said, "I clean the restroom twice a week. I already cleaned it." At the end of my 20-week stay at the Residence Inn, Marriott never sent a survey by email for me to complete. I guess they didn't want the poor review that they deserved.

Hotel has fleas. The room I stayed at has fleas. Woke up to Fleas dancing on my face. Fleas are on the bed. Hotel is carpeted throughout. The hotel GM came to the room and saw the fleas too. Fleas everywhere. Saw fleas in the hallway as well. Beware of sleeping here. I complained and checked out and went straight to the laundromat and washed all my clothes so that I didn't bring any home with me. Opened complaint right away with Marriott corporate about this incident. It is now Nov 10, 2020 and the GM of the hotel has not comp me for anything. It has been 7 weeks. Marriott Corporate hasn't been much better either. I have had to call back over 10+ times now to follow up on my claim. Every time I'm on the call for 40+ mins just to hear that the GM of the hotel does not have my personal info, which I have already provided when I was on premises. Now I'm being told to call back when the GM is on site and working. Will be filing a report with the county. I am loyal platinum member, so I can't imagine how no status customers are treated. Hotel thinks they can just ignore me and the problem will go away.

OK hotel in Salinas 30 from MontereyUsed this Residence Inn to explore the Monterey area for 5 nights. The location is about 30 mins from Monterey and the coast so priced better. The property is OK and appeared clean. Could hear noise from nearby rooms so walls must be thin. Rooms and the kitchen contents in need of some work (e,g, broken light fitting, not much in the way of silverware or kitchen utensils, and crockery mismatched). Service was fine (no housekeeping unless requested) - we requested extra hand towels and soap due to the 5 nt stay. The room we had didn't have an oven but the hotel has a BBQ grill which we used. We noticed that at least the 2BR rooms did have a full oven so if this is important to you I would request specifically. We assumed our room would have one after calling to check... Breakfast was poor during the Covid pandemic (a paper bag with dry oatmeal to cook in your room? This would be a good choice for Monterey f the reduced cost is worth the 25-30 min drive each way.
