  "You've been downgraded."

  We booked here specifically for a 2 bedroom suite, confirmed it twice, including the day prior to arrival. When we arrived there, we were notified that "You've been downgraded", and...good luck finding a second room, that was the "last one". No one called or bothered to notify us in any way. I asked who made this decision and she said it was her boss Madeleine Sundeman. It wasn't just the substance of their action, but also the delivery "style". Really unbelievable, which has prompted me to write my first negative tripadvisor review in a decade. We ended up at Marriott, nice beds, no kitchenettes but has room service and decent food. So, in conclusion, if you don't want to risk your stay, secure your reservation elsewhere.

  Not smoke free!

  Interesting enough we also arrived on January 12th like the other reviewer. They also told us we had been downgraded. No call. And at 4:00 the room was not yet ready. And we were told it was the only room left. We had brought food from home , hence the desire to stay there but the downgraded room had no oven. Two of our meals went to waste. But that is not the worse part. Our room smelled like smoke. But also like incense, kind of.. I immediately called down and was assured all their room were non smoking. Given it was the last room and we had unpacked the car for a 5 night stay, I thought maybe someone from housekeeping had had smoked prior to cleaning the room and the smell still lingered. Except when I went to take a shower later that night. The plastic shower curtain was coated in cigarette residue. I washed the curtain twice but the next day it still reeked from cigarette smoke. We have had the windows open all day for three days and the room still smells like smoke when we walk in. There is no way the hotel did not know there were smokers living in here for multiple days. We are great fans of the Residence Inn especially when one needs to live in another city. This is the worse by far of any we have stayed in. The Mayo instructed me to stay away from cigarette smoke prior to my surgery. Too bad I am paying $168 a night to breath in stale smoke. The location is ideal but in the end not worth it at all!

  Great property!

  We stayed at the residence Inn for my daughters 18th birthday. It was an amazing experience! We got a fireplace suite that was huge and had two bedrooms and a living space. It was perfect! Madelyn was the receptionist at the front desk and was amazing and friendly. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!!!!!

  Great place near Mayo Clinic

  There is really only one negative I can find at this hotel and that is that the upholstered furniture is worn and grungy. I will list some of the many positives: 1) Friendly people at the front desk like Destiny and Ethan always make a stay better 2) my room has a gas log fireplace that I find wonderful! 3) The hotel is connected toe the Subway (a tunnel system connecting Mayo Clinic buildings) 4) It is nice to have a stove and refrigerator to be able to make special food for someone who is not feeling well 5) The two bedroom suite is large enough that I could actually live here. Having my own bathroom is really nice. 6) The breakfast offering are offered in a carry-out fashion because of Covid Pointer: splurge on the indoor parking. I did not and my beautiful truck is plastered with crow poop
