  Best Marriott Ever

  We stopped at the Residence Inn in Ocala for one night. From the moment we walked in, we were treated to an over the top experience. Kevin (funny and wonderful) greeted us warmly as Marriott members, gave us an upgrade automatically, told us about the mixer later that evening, and answered all our questions. I would go out of my way to stay there again. All the staff members are friendly and professional. Thank you for making us feel at home.

  Comfortable choice for families, Fabulous Manager

  The absolute highlight of our stay and best asset to this hotel is their manager, Kevin. AKA, Kevin 'till Eleven, when his shift ends. He offered a sincere and warm welcome right away, as if we were old friends and leaving, I feel we are! He made our stay a true pleasure by accommodating our every need and question, offering helpful info about the property and my Bonvoy advantages. He truly showed that Marriott is grateful for their guests and rewards our brand loyalty. When I wandered down looking for a cup of hot tea at 10:30 pm, he unlocked the kitchen and went back to fetch me piping hot water, knowing that's a tea lovers' dream. I was about to send my husband to the gas station so we BOTH appreciated his help. In regards to the property: I'll preface this by saying to remember you are in Ocala. We are here because it's a simpler, more laid back place. so keep in mind that new and shiny is harder to come by. This floor plan is great for families with a large and well equipped full kitchen, waiting coffee, coffee pot, tea bags, etc. The living room furniture is sparse and not exactly comfortable but serviceable. I'm typing this from bed because it's more pleasant. Each room has an attached full bath and closet, granite in baths and kitchen, decent pillows and bedding on a softer (and I'm guessing older) mattress. Pool and small but hot whirlpool are open until ten and there are fire pits with cozy outdoor furniture. They could do a deeper clean on the units, the bath floor grout is in desperate need of pro cleaning. Overall, I'd stay here again for the price and perks of Bonvoy. Prepare for some road noise, you are right off the highway yet close to so much. We stopped at Sam's Club right across the street on the way in, everything is very convenient but not exactly picturesque or relaxing.

  JUST OKAY

  I usually write good reviews because I have good luck with hotels. But, the best I can give this one is 3 stars. Hotel is okay but definitely showing signs of wear. Bed clean and comfy, but the sheets were thin - not crisp; very worn. Shower curtain had a bit of a sour smell and could maybe use a bleaching. The bathroom area was super nice; big spacious closet / sink / mirror area - then another area with tub and toilet. When I entered the suite, the overwhelming smell of cleaning product hit me in the face. That is a big gripe of mine, but this one time I will forgive it - as it might have been extra cleaning stuff for the COVID. The suite was nice - spacious; typical Residence Inn. I love the fully equipped kitchen! The fireplace was nice too. Separate living area from bedroom and a small dining table. Location is good - right off I-95. TONS of shops and restaurants all around it. Its on a main busy road, but sits far enough back to be nice and quiet. The lush landscaping is pretty. The A/C worked great. Free parking. Free GOOD wifi at this hotel. Theres a pool and gym (limited use because of COVID); neither which I used. The hotel is showing signs of age because the rug in my suite was frayed where it met the kitchen tile - had to be careful not to trip on that. I have photos if anyone is interested. I stayed here right after COVID restrictions were lifted (6/5/20). There wasnt the usual great breakfast, but rather a grab and go breakfast. The grab and go was just cereal, carton of milk and hot coffee (very good coffee!); that was it. That was fine with me because I appreciate the care a hotel takes to keep people from getting sick. However, I think that is more just to save the hotel money. I say that because the check-in person was NOT wearing a mask. If they really wanted to protect people, she should have had on a mask. Dont do one thing to protect people, but not the other. I did have one big gripe. I am a lifetime Marriott Platinum member. I NEVER ask for upgrades, even though I am entitled to them. But, this time I asked for 2 beds because I didnt want to share a bed. The check-in woman quickly shut me down by saying this hotel ONLY had 1 king and pullouts. There were only about 10 cars in the parking lot, so very few guests were there. I happen to know Residence Inns have 2 bedroom rooms with 2 beds, yet she did not even look for one to put me in - didnt even pretend to - just "nope". My friend did not want to sleep on a nasty, uncomfortable pullout (who does?), and the sheets for it were on the floor in the closet - either dirty or had fallen out of the bag (again, I have photos if anyone is interested). Gross. I could have understood it if the hotel was full, but it was not - and the next morning there were even less cars. Why reward me with a status that isnt accommodated the 1 time I ask? I also have high floor on my profile and she gave me 2nd floor overlooking the dumpsters. Again, fine, if hotel was full - but it wasnt. Honestly, I felt this was the worst room in the hotel - frayed carpet, dumpster view, sour shower curtain, thread-bare sheets, sheets for pullout on the floor. I am usually so happy to get into a Residence Inn, but this one was a disappointment; just small things, but when you finally get to go somewhere after travel restrictions, you want the place to be nice. I don't know if I will stay here again, there are plenty of other hotels around this one.

  Super clean

  Reluctantly we needed to stay one night in a hotel prior to renting a vacation house for a week. The hotel staff all wore masks and hotel rooms were super clean. Breakfast was already filled into individual to go bags so no people loitering in lobby. And no one touching anything unnecessarily.

  Pleasant Stay

  Had a pleasant overnight stay. The place was clean and the rooms were decorated nicely. The lobby in particular was modern and appealing. Parking is tight so any vehicles with a trailer may need to park in an overflow area that the hotel leverages in cooperation with Cracker Barrel as they own the property. Its not real convenient but you have to adapt.
