No Customer ServiceStayed here one night while passing through on way home. Total lack of customer service, let alone southern hospitality. Went to the serving window during breakfast hours and no one was attending the area. Front desk was empty. Had to knock on serving window to get service and was greeted with What you want?!. Went to check out and had to finally walk into the back office and interrupt 3 employees morning coffee clatch. Asked for a receipt-it was thrust at me. No thank you, no have a safe trip, nothing. This was on top of mediocre lodgings that are NOT up to par for the chain. Very disappointed.

THIS is not a Marriott!Cross country trip from our home town Seattle, WA to Jacksonville, FL. We decided to take the long ride, by going straight south on I-5 and taking the I-10 to the east. Reservations in several Marriott hotels were done for a one nights stay. This hotel was our worst experience, not only the lack of customer service, but this place does NOT follow standards for Covid-19. Our towels had holes!!! The room was not vacuum, or clean. On top of that we were charged $100 fee for our 17 pound dog. We arrived at 10 PM and left next day before 9 AM. One hundred dollars for a dog that was carried in our arms, we went to sleep and we left. Marriott in Oregon, no charge in California (2), $20 in both hotels in Arizona, no charge in Nevada $20 in Texas $25 New Mexico, no charge Alabama, no charge My husband is a Titanium Elite member of Marriott, traveling for business since 1998, that is 22 years Marriott customer. The fact that they didn't even tell us about it, they just charged our credit card is so UNPROFESSIONAL Reception people are with mask down, chatting and laughing Housekeepers not wearing mask, this was our really bad experience. It is disappointing to write a bad review, but after a logical conversation in regards to this charge and the fact that they do not want to help, ... for us it is NOT Marriott standards.

Three night stayWe stayed here for three nights while my son attended a baseball camp. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The front of the hotel has been updated by the rooms have not. I have been in other RI that are more equipped kitchen wise but when I needed something like a cookie sheet, the staff was able to track one down. The breakfast was nice that it was a different hot option each day you ordered at a window vs. the normal just grab and go. I also appreciated the ample amount of washer and dryers. The staff appeared to be taking COVID seriously. Would stay here again on our next visit to LA.

GUEST BEWARE - EXCESSIVE FEES WILL SIGNIFICANTLY COST YOU - PET FEE MORE THAN DOUBLED THE COST OF MY ONE NIGHT STAY**GUEST BEWARE - EXCESSIVE FEES WILL SIGNIFICANTLY COST YOU - PET FEE MORE THAN DOUBLED THE COST OF MY ONE NIGHT STAY** Marriott needs to understand, something that sounds great in a corporate boardroom may not translate well to your guests / customers. I stayed one night (2/2/2021) at the Marriott Residence Inn - Covington LA. I booked the stay through one of the 3rd party travel apps I use on a regular basis. In booking the stay, the hotel mentioned being Pet Friendly. Within the terms of the booking, it is non-refundable and they do mention in the small print You'll pay the hotel directly for additional charges, like room service or resort fees. This did not bother me as I have dealt with this on other occasions. The hotel single night booking, including taxes, cost $95.35. On this trip I had my 10 lb mini dachshund along for the trip and thus why I booked a pet friendly hotel. On arrival to the hotel, they had a small sign on the wall stating: Pets Are Accepted Upon Request Pet Policy In Effect Nothing else as to their policy or fees were stated, posted, or provided. Nothing was stated in the booking app. On check-in, the desk clerk asked if I was traveling with any pets and I informed her of my mini dachshund. In response, she tells me they have a pet fee of $100. Including tax, it is $108.70. THE PET FEE MORE THAN DOUBLED THE COST OF THE SINGLE NIGHT STAY, TAKING IT FROM $95.35 TO $204.05. Now I have many times paid hotel pet fees, they generally run anywhere from $20 - 50, but never have I incurred such an unreasonable fee, policy, or desk clerk. A non-advertised pet fee more than doubling the cost of my stay is beyond unreasonable. I explained this was a single night stay, the dog was only a small 10lb mini dachshund, and their fee more than doubled the cost of my stay. The desk clerk then told me I could just check out and the hotel across the street was only a $40 pet fee so I could go stay there. This was not going to work because my booking with them was non-refundable, so I would then be in a position of paying for a second hotel, and thus having 2 nightly hotel costs and a pet fee for single night stay. My little mini dachshund causes less wear and tear than any human. She sits on laps and sleeps in her little bed. This entire experience was costly, horrible for me as the guest, excessive, and unreasonable. If this fee is set and known, at the very minimum it should be provided and clearly advertised in advance of the booking. Not sprung on a guest when they check in There is no reason a hotel is able to clearly advertise thor room rate, yet cant provide their standard pet fee when they are advertising themselves as a pet friendly hotel. In my nearly 20 years of constant business travel, the Residence Inn in Covington LA was the most PET-UNFRIENDLY HOTEL I have ever come across. Do not advertise yourself as Pet Friendly if you are going to use this as a guise to financially abuse your guest. I included photos with the review to show the sign at the front desk and also the spotless condition of the room on our departure from the hotel. On contacting Marriott customer service to explain my displeasure, the customer service agent sent me a pdf document attached to the email. The pdf outlines their pet fee. She also said their pet fee is provided in a tab of every 3rd party booking site. When I informed her this is not true and Hotwire does not provide any information as to the pet fee - she told me I should tell Hotwire to change their site to reflect the pet fee. Basically telling me it is my job as the consumer to fix the problem with their relationship and policies with Hotwire. No - sorry, this is a Marriott / Hotwire issue, not my job as a consumer. Furthermore she bluntly told me my request for any sort of corrective measure was denied. About Me: I almost never leave a review of any kind. In rare instances I do leave a review it is most often because of an excellent experience as I do not like to negatively reflect on any business or their staff. I travel nearly 50% of the year for work. I stay in hotels on all of my travel. I am well-versed in hotels, air travel, rental vehicles, fees, booking, and all things related. I am also able to identify when a situation is just wrong. This was wrong. Marriott should take steps to remedy their policy so as to better serve the needs of their guests. Kind Regards, M. Very Worn, no masksHotel quite worn, rooms are very tired ~ not the standard expected from Marriott. Lots of signs requiring masks, virtually NO guests wearing masks, including complete soccer team having pizza in lobby with NO masks. If youre concerned about virus, their are no protocols followed in this hotel.
