  Fine for a night

  I had my second stay about a year after my first, and this time, we "squeezed" into a 1BR suite for one night instead of a 2BR a year earlier. It was actually plenty spacious for 2 adults and 2 little kids. We made up the couch such that there were 2 beds, the pull out plus the chaise portion, with a pillow divider in between. I found the beds/bedding particularly uncomfortable, even for one night, so much so I wouldn't want to stay here longer than that. The AC unit was also a little noisy. Also worth noting that this hotel is split into 2 buildings, so if you are not in the main building, you have to go outside for a little bit to get to main amenities, which can be annoying. I did very much appreciate hot eggs/potatoes at breakfast, as well as lots of choice, given COVID. It was grab and go, in the sense that you have to bring to your room, which is fine, but you still had most of the usual options.

  Not what it used to be

  Stayed here for 4 weeks in 2 different rooms. Definitely not what it used to be. Room 1: Toilet fill valve leak and dripped constantly. Housekeeping replaced it but then noticed that the flapper valve was leaking and it ghost flushed the rest of my stay. Tried to cook and discovered that the range hood fan was broken. Housekeeping left me a note saying they could not get the motor for it it was 20 years old and left me a box fan to help when cooking. Second room when I walked in the bedroom noticed that there was a window unit in the window. Thought it was strange but didnt put much thought into it until I was awakened at 6 AM the next morning to a clicking sound coming from the air handler for the room conditioner. Turns out the window unit was there because the AC was broken for the room. When it got too cold they provided me a portable electric heater to warm up the room. I understood The cleaning service being only every three days, but the hotel ran out of shampoo, would not leave soap for the dishwasher, or hand soap for the sink. Dont know if I would stay here again. The Clarion in New London has rooms with kitchens I heard.

  Great location- near 95

  Had a wonderful weekend with family. The hotel did a good job dealing with COVID countermeasures. We were able to schedule time in the pool. The location was very convenient to the aquarium and seaport village.

  Vacation ruined!

  I booked 2 nights with my 4 children. Two of my children have special needs, and are on the autism spectrum - I explained this to staff when I arrived and discovered the pool wasn't working, they do not have a warm breakfast as promised on their website - just a terrible bagged breakfast with a bagged muffin and granola bar, the fireplace in the room wasn't working and the safe in the room wasn't working. I would have brought food had I known about the breakfast - instead I had to buy $100 worth of new food. The fireplace was the entire reason for booking the room - the most expensive at the hotel - which was also charging 2 times their regular price because of Valentine's Day. My kids love the fireplace and couldn't wait to sit by it - they never fixed the fireplace or the safe and to make matters worse my taillight was broken in the parking lot.

  Not the quality of other Residence Inns

  From the moment we stepped into the room it was obvious housekeeping didnt clean thoroughly. With this being Covid time, things like a full trash can in the kitchenette and cobwebs in the wall lights are cause for concern. It made us uneasy and unsure if the hotel was living up to their Covid cleaning procedures as advertised. This concern was compounded by the condition of the bathroom. There was obviously water damage at some point which still showed and the repair that was done was shorty at best. The shower curtain rod was pulling away from the wall because of the damage. It was late when we arrived and the kids needed to sleep so we stayed the night. Mistake. The beds are VERY hard and uncomfortable. So much so, I am still awake at 1am writing this review while one the hotel room. This is definitely not the level of quality Ive become accustomed to with Marriot hotels. Very disappointed. As a side note, the charge pending to our account is about $30 more than what we were expecting. Im not sure if that will go through as such or if its just a placeholder for incidentals but it took me off guard to see it. Im hoping its a placeholder because this hotel is definitely NOT worth the regular amount were paying much less $30 more than expected. I will avoid this hotel in the future for sure.
