RENOVATED AND WELCOMINGThe rooms have been renovated and the staff is very welcoming!!! The breakfast was one of the best I have had at a Residence Inn. Wanda cuts the fresh fruit daily, good eggs and sides, always a good selection of cheese and the layout is good with food in one area and seating in another. Easy access to I-65 and only 3 miles north of I-10. Pool is good for kids. Fitness Center is small but not crowded and they will let you use the Courtyard down the street. It is back off the road behind the Fairfield Inn. Go through the Fairfield parking lot to get to the Residence Inn. Nice quiet sitting area in the courtyard.

Great Dog Friendly HotelResidence Inn is what you would expect from any Marriott property. Quality, cleanliness, well appointed, and consistency. As this is a pet friendly property, the quality of how the rooms, beds, carpets and similar are deserving of even higher praise. You would never know they allowed dogs. No dog smells, noise or similar unpleasantness associated with pets. Just a great place to stay. Worth every dime spent. Beds & pillows are super comfortable, fresh and spotless. Breakfast offered a wide variety of fresh fruits, beverages, eggs, and similar morning offerings. Better than most hotels that offer breakfast. Staff was great and super professional while being personable and welcoming. The only "oddity" is the location, which a bit industrial (e.g, car dealers, etc) compared to the usual Residence Inn locations elsewhere in the country. HOWEVER, I must also note that all their competitors in this price range (e.g. Hampton, Fairfield, Courtyard, Homewood Suites, etc) were also located in the same area. Apparently, given the location of business/government related areas in Mobile, this must be a prime location for business and professional people. But I would not let that deter anyone from staying at this Residence Inn. A wonderful experience and I would return again at any time!!

Awful and disgusting and no mask wearing at front deskI arrived on August 17 and was welcome by the general manager at the front desk who was not wearing a mask. She gave me a room on the 2nd floor and when I got up there, not only was the hallway filthy, but the room had not been cleaned from the previous guest, there was trash, unmade bed, and dirty towels. It was disgusting especially with Covid going on. They should have known better. I took the keys right back down to the front desk and told her to cancel my reservation. She did not ask if she could make it right for me, or find me another room or hotel. The property overall was dirty and needs a really good deep cleaning. Ended up staying at the Fairfield in Pensacola it was a new property and very nice, great staff and they were wearing masks.

Sketchy AreaNot knowing the area I booked this hotel. Not a good looking area- on the street- old buildings with busted & broken out windows and some boarded up. There are three hotels or more grouped together two sharing a parking lot. The others are very budget hotels which adds to the unsafe feel. The staff was nice. It appeared clean.

Hard TimeWith Covid, we've been more likely to use hotels with kitchens. It's good not to have to worry about getting sick from going out to eat. At the Residence Inn Mobile, however, we worried about being killed. Or, more precisely, we felt we had been sentenced to a minimum security prison where things can happen to inmates. Really, one doesn't need a vivid imagination. A ten-foot chain linked court is just to one side of the front door, from inside of which enormous men could be seen playing a vigorous game of basketball. They nodded and waved. We waved. It was nice. However, at 4:30 in the afternoon, the door was already locked--maybe it's always locked?-- and we were buzzed in by masked ladies behind plexiglass. The computer wasn't working, so we were directed to the former breakfast room, killing time, wondering whether the smart thing would be to use precious daylight to move the car under a streetlamp. Soon enough, however, we were given a paper bag with supplies and directed down the hallway to our room. No,"We're so happy you're a platinum member, please accept this welcome gift, or maybe you'd rather have 500 points?" Matching the theme, we expected to find soap and a toothbrush, but instead found Grandma's cookies, a small bottle of water, and some crackers--doubly disappointing. The room itself was spartan, however there was a fireplace. Not a fake, natural gas fireplace, but a genuinely dirty, go-down-to-the-Piggly-Wiggly- and-get-some-firewood fireplace. Our windows had a view of the closed, broken down hotel next-door. The room was cold, but clean, although the bathroom smelled just a little bit like urine, quickly ending any thoughts of using the lavender bath bomb we'd brought all the way from home. Vain thoughts from another life. The bathroom upstairs made ominous knocking sounds whenever somebody used it, and we could hear every step they took. The carpet between the bed and our bathroom felt sticky to our bare feet, like honey, or blood, had been spilt. Our kitchen contained no spoons. We could understand no knives, nobody on the premises should have knives, but spoons? We didn't take the boxed breakfast--that defeats the whole purpose of having a kitchen--but did notice the fitness room was small and had a "no more than two" sign on the door. Earlier this year, we stayed at another RI that had a one-person rule, with reservations taken at the front desk: a much safer solution. Still and all, the bed was comfortable and a few minutes in the surprisingly luxe shower snapped us out of our Folsom Prison reverie. The desk was a perfectly reasonable option for writing emails and sorting out the day's tasks, and after a bowl of microwaved -ourselves oatmeal, we walked briskly to the car and drove away as fast as we dared.
