  Great place to stay. Wonderful location near shopping.

  We will definitely visit this Residence Inn again. It was super convenient to shopping and restaurants. Close to Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan. The Staff was very friendly as was the surrounding area of Michigan. We live in a more metropolitan area and were very impressed with how nice and friendly everyone was in this location. When I booked the room, I called because I had two dogs and the total weight of the dogs was over the maximum weight allowed according to the web site. The Manager was very nice and agreed to allow our two old dogs and even marked our reservation to show that we would be checking in with two dogs. Unfortunately, one of our old dogs passed away the day before we were to arrive. At check-in they mentioned "2 dogs" and I sadly reported the change in our situation. Upon checkout I determined that they did not even charge us for the one dog we did have with us. Also, due to the booked-up nature of the weekend, they upgraded us, without charge, to a 2 bedroom suite. We had a full living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, three televisions, fireplace, etc. for the cost of the one bedroom suite we had reserved. My only regret in staying at this location is that my visit was too short. Next time I will plan to stay longer.

  Brief Stay

  We stayed here on the way to northern Michigan. The hotel is very dark so not great for little kids as my son was a bit scared in the hallways. The pool and workout room were closed due to COVID. Would recommend bringing wipes and w cleaning room as our room was pretty dingy. Also common areas by outside doors are filthy as was patio tables. If the pol wasnt open they should at least clean these areas so people can enjoy the outside areas. Would not stay here again.

  Dreadful Housekeeping

  Bed had a whole lot of trash, yes trash, under it. See photo. Floors felt sticky. Cleaning wash cloth left on tub. Asked to speak to hotel manager, was told (for three days) that the manager was not available. Never did get contacted by the manager....until a week later, when I got one of those stock email surveys from Residence Inn. They had their chance to get our feedback while we were there. I don't think this manager cared.

  Short staffed struggles

  As mentioned in a prior review, the rooms are not in the best shape. We had booked two nights but only stayed one and moved to the newer Springhill Suites 2 miles up the road. Our shower and toilet were not working properly and there was no available maintenance person who could fix them that day. We learned that they were struggling finding staff as many did not return after the lockdown and they had nearly two dozen no-shows for scheduled interviews. Hoping they return to their pre-COVID19 glory.

  Pick a different hotel!!!!

  Here are just a few of the worst issues with the hotel: Its DIRTY! The room was ok, but the hallways, elevators, lobby, etc... were unswept and littered with trash e everywhere! The shower backed up on us!! There was a strange, of and on again, bussing noise in the bathroom fan that we could not get to stop. Had to run a noise maker app to sleep!!! Surely someone else had complained before us yet we were still given this in maintained room. Maintenance issues inside and outside. The couch was oddly crooked. And the hallways reeked of some kind of weird food being cooked. I have stayed at several Residence Inn establishments over the years. This one gives them a very bad name. Stay anywhere else!
