  This Marriott property almost meets basic expectations for a hotel of a clean, comfortable, operational room. But first, while checking in using the Bonvoy app, I was offered, and accepted the mobile key, hoping I could go straight to the room at 10:45 after a long day. Not unexpectedly, IT DIDN'T WORK, to be precise the notification and loading of said key never went to my phone. The clerk at the front desk asked if I still wanted it when I checked in manually. I said "Kind of defeats the purpose at this point" She said its "hit or miss" and laughed. We both laughed. Marriott's mobile key is a joke. So is "mobile check in" I still end up going to the desk like I did 20 years ago, and they have to look up my reservation, and check my ID, and swipe my credit card ( even though it's in my Marriott account). Not this hotel's problem though. It's a corporate wide failure. The room was spacious, and comfortable. Even the sofa was comfortable enough to sleep on. The room appeared to have more wear and tear than expected for a hotel this new. It did give a new meaning to "extended stay" however, thanks to the water pressure. I was continually nagging my kids to hurry up with their shower, not realizing until I got in there the time it took to wash and rinse in the frugal stream of water from the shower head. During my extended period in the bathroom I noticed things that were less than expected cleanliness (photos) The breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold foods, and an unintentionally frozen bagel that was nearly impossible to separate (using a knife) where it was split to be toasted. Annoying, but at least one knows it hasn't been sitting out in a display case for several days. My son finished his eggs and bacon seversl minutes before my daughter returned from the waffle maker line, as happens nearly every time we travel and get complentary breakfast. I just need to come to terms with the fact that there are never enough waffle makers. It's chain wide. Every kid wants a waffle, and besides the time it takes if you know what you're doing, you add in the inexperienced wafflelers, waffle fails, and a travel sports team....you don't have enough waffle makers...ever.

  Great newer hotel

  One night, quick stay in Dec 2019. Very clean, newer hotel with a modern feel. Nice stand-up shower & very clean room with a kitchen. Good breakfast included & had a decent fitness room (3 treadmills & 3 ellipticals). I have stayed at the Springhill Suites & Holiday In across the street years ago, but this R Inn will definitely be my go-to if I am staying in this area again.

  Could be nice but...

  The walls are a little too thin; you can hear road traffic and other people talking in their room. The rooms are nice but the concierge should be diligent to read the comments/preferences of the guests before assigning them a room.. I had to ask in person to be reassigned to top floor even though my reservation was noted for that. Did I mention the walls were thin? Really.. its that bad... though listening to my neighbor complain on the phone about her sisters boyfriend was entertaining for a few minutes..it quickly became annoying. Her sister should just move on; brad seems like a tool.

  Spotless and friendly

  We stayed one night the week of Thanksgiving, on our way to visit family. The staff were friendly. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. As with many Residence Inns, this one offered real plates and flatware at their breakfast - not just disposables. I love that eco-friendly detail. Most guests were obvious business travelers, but I'd recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to the area or passing through.

  Not getting services that other hotels are providing

  While the hotel was clean, it seems the management there is using COVID as an excuse to restrict services. As an example, I have stayed at other hotels in Chicago suburbs that have their health club open. This one has been closed since early March along with the pool. Their breakfast consists of a bag with a muffin and bottle of water. I was told a month ago they were going to start serving a hot breakfast again as I have been to several other hotels in IL that served hot food. Some had pre-wrapped breakfast sandwiches and others provided full breakfast with you standing in line and placing an order and one of their staff members picked your order and served it. It may be time to find another brand of hotels in this area
