  Hidden Gem of Charleston

  The hotel is very welcoming. The front desk staff are always friendly and willing to help you any way that they can. The hotel has a good breakfast with both hot and cold foods. The kitchen area in each room have a full refrigerator and microwave. The evening social provides guests with free food and beverages. Hotel is clean and very close to the airport and downtown area. Highly recommended!

  Good stop on our travels

  This was our stop for the night on our way to NC. It was very clean, up to date and a large room. We didn't get in until it was dark and didn't realize that the location was not convenient to a gas station or eating establishments. The front desk had a list of local restaurants that delivered to the hotel and we went that route as we did not want to venture out after driving for 12 hours. It was a nice and quiet location. If driving through we would stay here again. (Christa)

  Hotel in quiet area of Charleston

  We stayed at this Residence Inn for one night during our recent travels. The hotel is tucked away in a quiet part of the city, and so if it is important to be near restaurants and shopping area, this is not particularly accessible to any of those. However, that was not a concern of ours and we appreciated the views, especially from our third floor suite. Front desk was quick and efficient about checking us in. The room was clean and it's always nice to have a kitchen even though we did not do any cooking. Small TV's in the living room and bedrooms. The breakfast was very good, seemed well stocked, and the seating lounge was large and relatively restful for a hotel buffet.

  Avoid

  The first room we were given had a cigarette smell (despite this being a smoke-free hotel). How did this escape the staffs notice? In the second room: (a) a fly flew out of the fridge when we opened it; (b) we found a dead bug in our bed after we got up in the morning; (c) there were multiple stains on the carpet. Further, the facility is in dire need of an upgrade. We will never stay here again. Caveat emptor.

  Best RI I have stayed in recently

  While not perfect, this Residence Inn was the best I have stayed in this year. The ice maker in our refrigerator did not work and of course with COVID, ice machines are shut down. Also, found popcorn between the cushions of the couch in the living area of our suite. BUT, staff was very friendly, breakfast was decent. Hot food was nice. Beds were better than previous stays.
