  Greatly Changed

  This was the second time that we stayed in this hotel while driving to Florida. The first time, in 2017, the stay was perfect. The suite had a full kitchen and a cozy fireplace. The pool and the hot tub were excellent. The breakfast was good. It was the perfect road trip stopover. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed by our second stay. We again booked the fireplace suite, but it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke so we had to move to another room. There were no other available suites with a fireplace, which was disappointing. The hot tub wasn't working and the area around the pool looked a little tired. At midnight, a very loud party started above us, complete with speakers and lots of shouting. The manager had left the hotel and refused to return. The hotel had no security and the manager refused to call the police. We ended up leaving in the middle of the night (after a long day in the car). The clerk at the front desk was sympathetic and he reversed the charge for the room. However, I was disappointed that Marriott never responded to my email about the incident. It seems that this hotel may have become a party rental, so it is no longer a good stop over for weary travelers looking for a restful sleep.

  Run away!

  Where do I start?! Im really not one to complain, but this hotel experience was awful. Upon check-in, I was told my 1 bedroom suite wasnt available, even though I booked online, ahead of time and the room is supposed to be guaranteed due to Titanium Elite membership. After advising the staff of this, a manager said they dont have that room available and directed me to their sister location in Midlothian. He said its only 30 miles away. When I questioned him further he advised that he all of a sudden does have the room available because he just cleaned it! Ah, ok, clearly he knew about it but didnt want to give it to me. The hotel grass and grounds looks like they havent had their landscaper come by in months. The grass is very tall and hasnt been cut in a while. Wait, this gets better. The parking lot was FULL of people partying who clearly were not staying at the hotel. Music was blasting from cars. The road leading to the front desk was closed by a car blocking the road and 40+ people standing around not letting cars through. Marijuana was the clear scent of the night when we brought our kids out to try and play basketball. We couldnt even do that due to the people, very loud rap music, smoking and yelling. The front desk didnt seem to care about it at all! They did NOTHING to address it. Ive stayed at so many Marriotts the last 10 years and this was by far an awful experience.

  Nice stay!!

  We stayed at the Residence Inn Richmond Chester for one night while driving down to SC. This location was chosen mainly because of the quick access to I295 which was a 1-2 minter drive off the highway. We got there around 930pm and the hotel was packed!! The front desk clerk was very nice and advised that the room we reserved with our annual free night certificate but we would get a two bedroom room. Not a big deal since we were only there to sleep for about 8 hours and then get back on the road. The room was clean and we had no concerns about the covid precautions. In the morning no breakfast was served but they did have a grab n go bag which contained a muffin, nurtigrain bar, apple and a bottle of water. This was fine as we wanted to get on the road. Overall a nice quick stay.

  Live Saver!

  After a 12hr+ flight I arrived to my hotel just to find out it was the WRONG Marriott. The gentleman at the counter allowed me to get the same rate from the other property for this night. (Which saved me about $40 PLUS this room was bigger) and was able to get the other room cancelled so I wouldnt have to pay. They was so helpful, made things less stressful.

  Nice Lodging with Gas Fireplace

  We stayed here one night on our trip down south. We picked the place because we only wanted to drive a few hours that day. The room was very nice - a one bedroom with a fireplace. Close parking. We used the fireplace extensively since we were cold from the drive (car heater did not work well). Front desk people were friendly and professional. Our only disappointment was the very limited breakfast choice - brown bag with a water and muffin and bananas, due to the Covid issue. Love Residence for their great hot and multi choice breakfasts, but I guess we will have to wait till the Covid mess is resolved.
