Nice, but parking is an extra $24 offsite

This residence inn is very nice. The front desk person was nice and helpful and the place looked and smelled nice and clean (unlike the RI in closeby Scarborough which was dingy, smelled of cigarette smoke and seemed dirty). There were two issues here...the parking is either on street, if available, or in an offsite garage where they charge $24. Either way, you have to walk. The garage charge is like 20% extra of the entire room charge. Street parking consists of about 7 close spots, so basically non-existent. I ended up parking in the closest spot 1.5 blocks aways which is not great when it's raining, snowing, cold or you want leave a bag in the car. Plus, I had to move the car by 9am. I feel they should tell you this whilst booking or make other accommodations. It is a big deal. And, while I understand the Covid breakfast thing, it would be nice to have a coffee station or something hot to eat (or lower the room price if you opt out of breakfast like I did since there was no good cereal).

Great COVID measures but some people dont wanna follow the hotels safety measures....

Stayed here one night(2-20-21) after skiing in Camden. Front desk: The man behind the front desk had a mask on. On the desk was glass(to protect you from the employee) a jar of clean pens and a jar of dirty pens. Lobby: After checking in we went over to the elevator which had a hand sanitizer dispenser so you had clean hands before you pressed all the buttons. Hallway: Once you got off at your floor, there was another hand sanitizer dispenser so you get off any germs that may of been hanging on the buttons. Room: We stayed in room 319 which had a small kitchen with burners, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, sink, coffee and coffee maker and cabinets filled with everything you need except a toaster(we didnt need to toast anything though), A living room which a pull out couch, coffee table, arm chair, desk and office chair, dining room table for two people and a TV on a stand, one bedroom with either a queen or king bed, tv on a stand and two nightstands and one bathroom with all the towels you need, toilet paper, toilet and tub/shower with everything you need. Right outside the bathroom was a closet with hangers and an iron, a sink with soap, makeup removal and one other thing and a counters with drawers and cabinets with one of them having a hair dryer. There were wet wipes in front of the TV remote controls if you were nervous about touching them and if that didnt make you feel comfortable, there was a QR code you could scan to make your phone a remote. We wanted to use the remote for the TV in the bedroom but it would not work, we then realized that the batteries were dead so we used a cell phone the first time, and the living room TV remote the 2nd time. On one phone, the volume for the TV worked but when I switched phones the volume didnt work so I used the remote. Indoor Pool and hot tub: The pool is open but the hot tub is closed and looks like it has been for years. You have to make a reservation to go to the pool and only 10 people can be in the room and pool with you. When its your turn to go in, you have to go to the front desk where they will give you towels and tell the other parties its time to get out before they give you the ok to go in. After your done, you put your towels in a hamper. On site store: On site store sells snacks and drinks which you either charge to your room, or pay at the front desk. However, the store does not sell USB outlets and the room does not have the special lamps that many hotels have nowadays. We assumed that the hotel would have those lamps so we dont park a USB outlet but I guess it was our fault for not asking. Breakfast: Breakfast is included for free in your stay and the servers were gloves and masks. Due to COVID, you have to order what you want from a menu instead of getting yourself which I think is a good thing. Food was just like any other chain hotel but coffee was really good. Explanation for my title: On the elevator door there is a sign that says For your safety please only have two people or one family at a time in the elevator. The first time we tried heading downstairs after sleeping, the elevator doors opened and a couple was inside, they stepped to the side and told us to come in but we refused. The 2nd time, the elevator doors opened to an EMPLOYEE standing in the elevator and he said you can come in if you want. We were surprised he would offer that as we would think that offer could get him in trouble. The 2nd time we went downstairs, a lady had just stepped in the elevator. We were standing waiting for the doors to close and she heals out her hand to stop the doors even though we couldnt be in there. Once we told her that, she took her hand out and the door closed. The doors reopened after the lady had gotten out and we want inside and another family tired getting in with us. We told them no multiple times but they didnt listen and kept trying to get in. Finally we just decided to let them in and took the stairs until checkout. Final opinion: I understand that the hotel has no choice over what there guests choose to do and the elevator issue does not effect my rating for them. There COVID measures are great and taking the stairs solves the simple issue with the elavator. Would I stay here again during COVID times? Yes. Would I take the elevator? No. Would I stay here after the pandemic is over? Yes because I would not have as much worries and probably take the elevator.

    Worst hotel ever

Upon arrival (check in time), just for being a person of color, they gave me a $250 incidental. I bit the bullet and allowed it. I walked in my room, showered, and left. I went out and came back around 4am. I went to sleep and was rudely awakened by the front desk. I put my mask on and went down stairs to see whats up. Once I got there Portland PD was already there. I was shocked. I apparently have had noise complaints I expressed how they need to run the cameras back because I havent really been here. I got kicked out my room because someone a few doors down from my room was throwing a party. I didnt not appreciate how I was treated. I will NEVER in my life stay here nor recommend it to anyone I know.
