Hotel great but housekeeping needs workWe have stayed at this hotel since it first opened and really enjoy it- staff at front desk are very friendly, pleasant decor, fireplace in lobby, comfortable seating in lobby, free shuttle to downtown Harvard square- lots of reasons to return . However housekeeping standards have slipped and Im disappointed enough to comment on it. When we checked in ,there were cinnamon sticks in the disposal. The next time room was minimally done- bed smoothed over and garbage emptied is all. They apologised and sent the person responsible to redo the room . Today it wasnt done at all , In spite of not having any sign on the door- they do not have please make up room signs, justplease come back later signs. I dont know what the problem is - overwhelmed staff, not well trained staff , or a difficulty in getting staff, but it certainly isn't what I expect of Marriott. When I called to ask why, they did offer points in lieu of service, and sent up fresh towels. We do like the hotel and will probably return, but I just hope they get their housekeeping act together - soon!

Great Value, Excellent Facility, Felt Safe during Covid EnvironmentStayed here for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom suite. Excellent Value and staff was very friendly. This is still a Covid 19 environment and this hotel did their best to comply with both Marriott's guidelines as well as the state of Massachusetts. Parking: While the hotel boasted maximum allowed capacity for this Covid environment, the parking lot was quite full. My guess is that in the past, half the guests drove and the other guests used other means of transport. This time everyone drove. Reception: Plexiglass installed around front desk and tables set up to maintain social distancing between check in and reception. Cards are sanitized in a bucket and Sanitizing gel machines are located throughout the space. Front doors are automatic so no need to touch handles. If you don't have a mask, you can just ask the front desk. When I saw a guest sitting in lobby with just a gator around their neck and not using it, I suggested to the front desk that this guest might need a mask and they took care of that immediately. Elevator: limited to 3 people. If you want to go alone, people are very patient to wait for next elevator. You need to touch the buttons but there are sanitizing machines outside the elevator. Breakfast: While it is no longer an option to have the fabulous hot breakfasts, Marriott makes pre-packaged bags with juice, a piece of fruit, water bottle and a coffee cake. I wish there was a self serve coffee machine as well but not a big deal since you can make it in the room. Rooms: Very clean. They wait 24 hours between guests and they do a thorough cleaning. Pros: If you need anything you can call front desk or stop by and they can hand you the items or have housekeeping deliver to just outside your guest room door. Very convenient location next to a large Target store in Watertown. Easy driving to Charles River, Boston and highways if needed. Spacious Rooms, excellent air conditioning or open windows for fresh air. Sterilizing the remote controls is great - should do it in each room of suite. Only the main room had the remote in a "pocket". I used my own sanitizer on the ones in the bedrooms. They limit the number of people that can swim or use the gym at the same time! I didn't personally use it, but saw that they were very compliant! Pet friendly! Always a plus if you travel with your pet. Must reserve in advance! Suggestions to hotel: Add more sanitizing machines to each floor and corridors as well as installing them in guest rooms. I realize you can wash your hands, but it would be nice to have some gel - and not just 2 small square wet wipes - to clean your hands when you open your room door. Include extra large garbage bags in the rooms. Since many people ordered food in or cooked, it results in lots of garbage. Garbage disposal is great, but there is still a lot of packaging that needs to be tossed out. Kitchen garbage is small and I went down to get extra bags. My refrigerator looked clean and I did find a clear lid to an ihop container left in the fridge, but it was hard to see since it was lodged behind a shelf. Maybe encourage housekeeping to look in the refrigerator to be sure. Would have liked to have a small broom and dustpan for cleaning up after myself since housekeeping does not enter premises during a guest stay - which is great by the way - just need to make sure guests have the tools to keep the space clean. 2 dish towels was not enough. Traveler suggestions: If you have any difficulty walking, ask for a room closer to elevator. We had a great room, however, it was at the end of a long corridor and that could be difficult for older guests. Bring your own paper plates and plastic utensils. The room comes with service for 4, but I found it hard to continue to clean dishes and ended up using the paper goods and napkins that i brought with me. I also went to target and bought more sanitizer and liquid hand soap so that it was easier to wash hands and not share a tiny bar of soap at each sink.

Poor sound insulationI had the worst night I have ever had in a hotel. It has very poor sound insulation. I could hear ppl in the upper floor walking, showering, doing things from 12AM to 2AM! It was a terrible night and I wont stay another night at this hotel ever!

Sleek and well run ... but serious quality problems overall. My stay here was transitional housing generously provided by my new employer meaning I didnt pay the bill if I did my review might have been different. I was here for two full months, allowing an unusually detailed look at the operations of what youd assume was more upscale lodging. After tallying up the good and bad, waffling between a three and a four, I decided this property earned a solidly three-star rating. First the good: I was given a corner room on the third floor that offered a scant view through large windows of Downtown Boston far to the east. This was a dog-friendly room in a dog-friendly property, and that worked exceptionally well for my aging chocolate lab (though they charged me $150 in pet rent for the privilege). The room design and features appear sleek, especially the large bathroom and roomy shower, which Ill always miss. Generally, this appeared as a well-maintained property; the friendliness and knowledge of the front staff varied; the male staffers were always warm and welcoming, while the women more than not appeared cold and rather aloof, especially when my old dog dared to wander behind the large sweeping desk. But all had treats to give him, which I appreciated. During a snowstorm, the staff went out and swept snow off all the cars, which was a remarkably nice gesture. For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we were given little gifts and a special dessert. OK, now the bad and for a property of this caliber, there was much too much of that. First the parking lot was cramped and at $20 a day, ridiculously expensive. Some of the rules seemed infrequently enforced, particularly the covered check-in parking where people routinely parked all day (including a Mercedes with TheGoddess personality plate). The worst: Things like rationing toilet paper to two rolls a week. LET THAT SINK IN: Yes, you had to get toilet paper from the front desk, and they began rationing toilet paper to two rolls a week. Astonishingly unacceptable. And then there was the laundry room. Traveling across the country with my RV, I had used a great many laundry facilities costing between $1 a load and, rarely, even $3; half or a quarter that for drying. Here, both the tiny wash and dryer machines cost $4 ($8 a small load) and the washers routinely finished a cycle leaving clothes soggy wet and full of soap. The closet-size room felt like a COVID breeding ground made worse by the fact that one machine was out of order the entire 60 days I was there (as insult to injury, that machine was fixed the very day I checked out). Exiting the room, one couldnt help noticing the expansive but rarely used exercise room and large swimming pool that gobbled up excessive amounts of real estate. The in-room kitchen facilities were sleek and well designed but the appliances were old and junky. The TV constantly rebooted itself leaving you fumbling with the remote trying to get it back to the TV station you were watching. While the room was relatively quiet overall, banging from the floor above was a constant occurrence. Lastly, the large dining and bar area were unused the entire time I was there, owing to the pandemic. While that was understandable (and perhaps compliance related), the breakfast consisted of fruit, hackneyed granola bars and muffins and tiny containers of juice in a plastic bag. During the pandemic I had stayed in a couple of motels that actually managed to serve a hot breakfast. But at least hot coffee, a machine serving cold juice, milk, cereal, bagels, chilled yogurt, etc. were offered by most of the motels I stayed in across the country. An upscale hotel like this surely could have offered a little better breakfast offering. Bottom line, I expected much more from this Marriott property. But I do still miss that shower!

BEST HOTEL EVER!I stayed there for 3 months and I would say that ARTHUR and Gotham are the best employees Ive ever met and I stayed in sooo many places around the world ! Truly professionals They were always smiling, helping, asking how am I. Every single day! They both need promotion ! Maya was also super sweet but she was mostly pm so I didnt see her much The service was amazing! Rooms are soooo beautiful and well equipped. All requests were delivered in a seconds. I just have a minor advice. Housekeepers need to say at least hi when they see people in the corridor and they need to be nicer when they are servicing rooms and girls are the front desk need a little more training except Maya. They are not welcoming and not professional Thank you GM Derek! You are doing amazing work and thanks you for all the holiday gifts ! They are priceless Hanna Shakhn
