  Good location, good "bones" but quite dated.

  The Residence Inn Binghamton is directly adjacent to the campus of SUNY Binghamton. Great walking and a safe feel. Rooms are in townhouse style homes.....which makes it very pleasant and residential. However it's dated. Dennis, the GM, was excellent, everyone was extremely welcoming and helpful. It was pretty full and they are required to take a day between guests to make sure the rooms are totally sanitized, and it was very clean. Breakfast was "grab and go" because of the virus....not the normal great breakfast that Residence Inns have, but better than most of the other Residence Inns we visited on this trip. Binghamton is a tired city and it was hard to find much open to enjoy. New York is quite impacted by the virus, masks are nearly 100%, and people work hard to stay apart. So it didn't feel as friendly as it probably does other times. Getting into downtown from this location was very easy so it would be a good place to visit again.

  Felt safe during COVID

  Front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. All staff (and residents, when we crossed paths) were wearing masks at all times. Grab and go breakfast was surprisingly good - hot sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches. Open-air walkways between hotel rooms made the place feel safer, less germy during these weird times. Highly recommend this hotel if you need to travel right now and are taking COVID seriously.

  Disappointed

  Today was my check out day . When visiting the Binghamton in Area are usually stay at this hotel its been over a year since I have been back and I am sadly disappointed with the hotel I arrived late in the evening the woman at the front desk was very nice and helpful.Upon entering my room I was very tired so I pretty much crash for the night I woke up the next day and started with my daily activities upon entering the bathroom area there was some type of brown splash marks on the wall there was this color paint by the mirror they were spiders in almost every corner. Was almost like the room had not been dusted or cleaned in a very long time good thing I always travel with Clorox wipes and cleaning products the hotel is in desperate need of some upgrades and modernization.Usually have the bilevel suite I stayed in the studio this time I will not be staying here again and to think I am Marriott rewards member

  Sweet suite!

  The bi level suite was perfect for our family of four in town for a wedding! The separate bedrooms and living area were awesome, having two bathrooms was great when getting ready. Felt they did a good job with cleaning, I still used Clorox wipes but no visible dirt on them so thats better than some places weve stayed during this pandemic. Grab and go breakfast was nice, not the normal variety but breakfast sandwiches, yogurt and cereal options along with juice and coffee. Staff was helpful anytime we needed anything and felt safe in the lobby with everyone wearing masks and keeping distance! Downside is the walls are kinda thin so occasionally we could hear our neighbors and when the loft tv and the living room tv were on it was tough to focus on one since you could hear both.

  Great staff, older facility, weird 2BR, hot breakfast

  Now that our kids are older we stay in RIs quite frequently. While not the most recently build or updated RI in which we've stayed, everything worked and the 3 beds, 2 bathrooms, and kitchen were all much appreciated. The staff was great and this was the first RI in which we've stayed post-COVID that had a hot breakfast offering in their 'to-go' buffet. We very much enjoyed the egg, cheese, and sausage sandwiches and the selection was varied and tasty providing oatmeal, yogurt, various cereals, bagels, and more. On the downside, the upstairs bedroom is not separated from the living room despite the, "Enjoy the privacy and comfort in the spacious penthouse loft", blurb in the bedroom description. Moreover, the downstairs bedroom does not have it's own HVAC ducts and so in sub-freezing weather those doors need to be kept open to the living room as well.
