    comfortable room in a very busy place

    The hotel staff was very friendly. The room was comfortable. But the location was a bit of a problem. It's in a very busy location, there's a lot of outside noise. Getting off the Siegen exit from Baton Rouge, there's not an easy way to turn into the entrance because there's now a divider in the street. So you have to loop around or do a Uturn to get to the hotel. And the traffic there in the evenings is horrible. So my only complaint really is location. Not the hotel itself.

    Undesirable

    I hate to complain for the few employees who were genuinely helpful, but overall, it was not a great stay. Getting additional pillows for our kids was difficult, and the employee helping us did not care. The pool and hot tub were filthy. At 4am on Thanksgiving, the fan in our freezer started squealing and woke out whole family up. Again, the employee did not care. She simply told me no one was in that early, so bummer. Finally at 9:30am, a maintenance person showed up at told us to change rooms. Every trip down to the front desk to ask questions or get additional items, no one was present and I had to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to finally come out. And on our final bill, we were charged $10 for bottled water we didn't drink. When I called to get it corrected, the employee was irritated. The hotel itself is not super well maintained, and the counters in both our rooms were not cleaned well when we moved in. Common areas could use some cleaning and love. Dishes in the kitchenette were incomplete and inconsistent from room to room. Definitely not what I expect from a Marriott. But again, there were 3 helpful employees who were genuinely trying and working hard and that's why we chose 2 stars instead of 1.

    TRULY THE MOST CARING STAFFERS IN ALL OF MARRIOTT...!!!

    When is the last time you were checking in, only to find not a single luggage cart in sight? Did a staffer go hunting through the whole hotel to locate a cart someone checking in just left outside their room instead of returning it to the lobby for the next guest? Probably not. So, then come here and see what it's like to be treated like a truly valued guest by people like Trumeka, Shanda and so many others whose names I did not get. They care here -- about their hotel and their guests. The laundry room is clean and working, the Grab 'n Go includes all sorts of extras (milk cartons, Chobani yogurt, apples and oranges, morning treats and even a hot breakfast sandwich. Thank you again, all of you. See you next time -- which will be our 4th stay here over the past few years.

    Great stay, excellent hotel

    We stayed here for a few days and would gladly come back even though there are a few minor drawbacks. The staff was excellent and very responsive to any request. The towels were of a higher quality than most hotels. I had to travel during the COVID pandemic and breakfast here was better than anywhere else. Other hotels just give you a brown paper bag with a muffin and processed juice for breakfast. At this Residence Inn, there is a choice of chilled juices, milk, yogurt and cereals. Plus, the breakfast attendant offers a choice of hot items which she prepares and brings to you. This alone showed me how much they were concerned about their visitors. The rooms and common areas were clean. There are several restaurants immediately next to the hotel plus plenty of shopping and other dining options within walking distance. The only drawback is that some of the rooms face the interstate but the windows block out most of the noise. I'm a light sleeper and had no trouble. Traffic in the area is heavy but I've found this to be true almost anywhere in Baton Rouge. If I ever have to stay in Baton Rouge again, this is my choice.

    If I could Give it ZERO, I would!

    Booked room online as a gold member at 1:30PM because of loss of power at home because of the 2021 Winter storm. It is now almost 4PM and still waiting on a room. Front desk continues to say it will be 5 or 10 minutes. The lobby is full of people. Everyone is bring told "5 or 10 minutes". I'd rather be told the truth. After waiting 2-1/2 hours, was placed in a very dated studio (booked a one bedroom). The closet is broken but I can overlook that. Went to make some coffee and the coffee machine was broken and there was caked on dirt in the water reservoir. I phoned to ask for a replacement. 40 minutes later, I decided to get the replacement myself so I went to the lobby. The desk took my broken dirty coffeemaker but says they have to bring me the replacement. When I offered to wait, they told me they had to go get one and it would be some time. An hour later, I still don't have one. The first coffeemaker I got back was the same exact one I returned. (pictured) When I met with the manager in the hall, she gave the impression that she doesn't care at all about my issues. Was told by Regina later that she would reward us our points back. Still waiting on that to happen. At 9PM, I DID finally get a new coffeemaker, after calling twice and visiting the front desk once more. Do NOT book a room here. Service and quality are seriously substandard.
