  Stayed here 2 nights were given room 412 a end of corridor room overlooking the canal and lock gate. The room was a big room with plenty drawer and hanging spaces also has a small sofa and 2 chairs. The big bed was clean and cosy. The bathroom was fine with nice towels and body wash. The hotel staff were fantastic nothing was a bother to them and the dining room girls were lovely too. The meals we had were excellent the starters were big and a bit different from the norm very nice indeed with the main meals being very tasty too. Breakfast was ordered on a tick sheet the day before so after being seated tea/coffee toast etc was brought and the cereal was available to be picked up if you wanted it. The full breakfast we ordered was ample nothing out of the ordinary have had better and worse, the bacon was hard on both mornings but my husbands poached eggs were fine. The jams were the cheapest and always marmalade and "strawberry"jam in plastic. The bar area was very comfy and we had a few pints of Mary Jane very nice at £4 a pint. The hotel did very well with the social distancing and the last orders for the bar was 9.30 and we had to be out by 10 which was a shame but that's the way it is. The walk into Skipton was 25- 30 minutes along the canal. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

  Thoroughly enjoyable stay

  So pleased we stayed at this hotel on our brief visit. Much more to offer than I expected. Our room overlooked the canal with barges parked up and wildlife. The bed was so comfortable - we thought it was a waterbed when we first sat on it but it was firm and so comfortable. Had the most beautiful evening meal and because there were no tables available our meals were brought to the lounge area of the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and a lot of humorous banter with one of them. The best breakfast I have had and I could have eaten a whole plate of their beef tomatoes which were delicious and sweet. A great start to our short break and looking forward to visiting again.

  Very good overall

  My wife and I stayed for two nights recently (late October). The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room so we were more than happy with it. It was also nice to be able to fully open the windows, something not always possible these days. The hotel was well organised and the staff were all very efficient, helpful and pleasant. They are coping with Coronavirus issues quite well. Our evening meals were excellent on both nights. We each had different menu choices and everything was very good: tasty, well cooked and well presented. The breakfasts, however, were not so good. On both mornings the breakfast appeared to have been cooked quite some time before we sat to eat. It was edible, but nowhere near the quality of their evening meals. I was very pleased to use their excellent gym. Again, it was clean, well organised and felt "safe". My only complaint in this area was that they were asking £4 for a bottle of water. What a cheek, I thought. Luckily I could take my own bottle, so not a problem. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel and would go there again.

  Two night break

  Really friendly hotel. Systems in place to deal with Covid risk. Restaurant & Bar staff very attentive & helpful. Ideal location overlooking the canal & countryside Food of a very good standard. Gaz,, behind the bar was the "icing on the cake"

  Great location by the canal

  Stayed a couple of nights in October. Meal on the first night was not to my liking. Probably just me as Im not one for fancy stuff but the bar meal the next day was lovely. Like a recent reviewer, I found the local ale very palatable though I thought it was called Joshua Jane not Mary Jane. Nice big room probably the biggest Ive had in this country. My wife said it was the best shower ever. Two chairs and a table in front of the TV! Nice thick towels. Bit cold in the bar-had to put my coat on. Bus to Skipton stops outside the hotel so we had an enjoyable day there. Excellent deal from Travelzoo. Would definitely stay again.
