NOT RELAXING WHATSOEVER. BLASTING LOUD TECHNO MUSIC.If you think you can come here for a chilled out vacation, think again. The hotel hosted an outdoor event when we stayed here and they blared disgusting techno DDR music so unnecessarily loud with zero regard for other guests. Sure, events--be it a wedding or a company off site or just general party some music--is expected but I should not be able to hear every single word of the cheesy emcee loud and clear from the very far side of the enormous resort which takes me 10 minutes to walk the length of and which consists of 4 towers. There is a way to balance the need of that event's audience to be able to hear and do so without the entire hotel wanting to rip their ears off. I thought I booked a hotel, not a low-class lame nightclub. Complained to front desk three times and they did nothing. Other than that, it's generally a tired looking place. Food is meh. Lots of kids facilities if you're looking for that. Beach right in the front seems okay but you can't swim in it, and if you walk along for a hundred meters you'll find heaps of trash strewn about which is sad.

Relaxing Stay at the RenaissanceThis is a pretty large resort with big comfortable rooms and a very large pool complex. We felt fairly alone until we went for the breakfast buffet which is absolutely nuts after 9 am. I would recommend going before 9 and having a friend hold on to the table. The resort caters to families but we found quiet areas near the pool bar and the starfish bar itself. Dining and drinks at the resort are pretty good and we enjoyed a few cocktails and burgers. The rooms are well appointed with large showers, big bath tubs and comfortable chairs or couches. We stayed in a king room and had no regrets other than the long walk to the lobby but we had a very short walk to the pool. There is a beach on the ocean but you cannot swim in it as the water is quite rough and the area is unsupervised. The location is not great so don't expect a quick walk or Didi ride to restaurants outside the resort. Please note that the bars and restaurants do close early some nights if they are not busy and the R Place Bar is currently renovating as of August 2020. I would say the good outweighs the bad if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing resort.

AVOID!I came here trusting that the hotel would be somewhat up to the quality standards of a Renaissance hotel and also a Marriot Hôtel. But, think again. It has NOTHING to do with those big names. Yes, the hotel is big, is pretty even tho you can tell it looks a bit outdated. The pool is very big and clean. And the room was pretty. They even gave us an upgrade to a bigger room. HOWEVER, not a hotel recommended for foreigners. NOBODY speaks English. ( yeah you would expect people at a 5 star hotel would speak english, or at least another language) no no. Everywhere you went you had to use a translator. I was super excited about the buffet breakfast, but nope, just a few western options. And nothing special. Food was very oily. And honestly. All they had were Chinese alternatives. And its Ok. But really again, AT A 5 star Renaissance hotel? NO VARIETY? Coffee bad. Bacon bad. Eggs horrible. VERY POOR We wanted to play tennis and we even brought our racquets only to find out that we had to pay extra to use the court. About 25$ an hour. Not like any other experience in a 5 star hotel Id ever had. For the price I payed here I would have stayed at any other Chinese hotel for half the price and I would have been happy because I knew what I was getting. But this hotel is 100% NOT up to the marriot standards. If I were responsible for this, I would change the name of this hotel. If you come here and you are looking to relax and feel in a comfortable environment. Think again. Shame shame.

Renaissance Sanya Resort&SpaWhat a great experience between 17th and 24th September. We had great service from Anna ADR, Charlie and Anita in F&B as well as housekeeping team. Guest Relations team always there to help us with our questions and inquiries. Looking forward to go back in December.

Terrible!I was recommended to top up $150 for restaurants in the hotel at check-in service, but found too much for my stay. I asked for full refund and was refused, what's more, I was told that the value was only valid for 30 days, which is a great Infringement of consumer rights. I seeked for assistance from government service, but still no response. Really shame for Marriott. Please everyone avoid this hotel.
