tourist grade hotel 45 km. south west of Tokyo

Spent 4 nights in this hotel for a nearby sport event. The size of the hotel common area including lobby area is quite large but the guest rooms are small. The room I stayed in measured approximately 200 sq ft. Checking-in was rapid though it was a late check-in at around 9 p.m. due to flight schedule etc. and may not indicate the situation at peak times. The room I stayed in was on the 6th floor with view of some car parking lots and commercial as well as residential buildings. Noise from the outside the hotel wasn't noticeable. However, noise originating from the corridor isn't muted too well. Luckily, apart from the occasional audible chit chat by some one walking along the corridor, there wasn't much serious noise disturbance. I didn't notice any large tour groups with screaming children while there. The room has a bit of everything despite its small size. It is worth mentioning that an electric air freshener machine was kept running 24 hours a day throughout my stay. Seems the hotel wishes to keep the air inside the guest rooms as fresh as possible. Other equipment include a 28" flat screen t.v. of the previous generation, but the t.v. programs are almost entirely local Japanese. There is a BBC channel available, although most of the programs shown therein are dubbed into Japanese, covering up the English spoken. So non-Japanese speakers have to depend on their own mobile devices for international & local news reports. There is an ironing board, coffee machine, small fridge, electric safe, aircon unit with an easy to operate control panel which controls temperature, wind strength etc. The small bathroom measured around 30 sq. ft; the shower cum bathtub is equipped with a simple hot-cold dial, and a hi-low water flow dial, which is so much better than the complicated switches of many hotels which does exactly the same things. The hot water was hot enough and comes on almost immediately. Breakfast is served on lobby ( ground ) floor in the Palm Tree Cafe, the variety & quality of food was unremarkable; coffee & tea is dispensed by machine, all are self-service. On lobby floor there are a few other restaurants namely a Japanese restaurant named Nakatsugawa, a Chinese restaurant named Trufun, a dedicated bar named Bar Rembrandt, and a sizeable unenclosed lobby lounge for coffee & cakes. A la carte prices in Palm Tree Cafe and Lobby Lounge are reasonable, whereas the displayed menu prices of Nakatsugawa are on the high side. On the 2nd floor is a large function hall which is hired out for large dinner parties, wedding events etc. This hotel seems to be a popular venue for such events. I did not research any info about gym facilities there. The exit on the opposite side of the main hotel entrance takes one to an interesting area with narrow streets, with lots of local small restaurants and tiny shops on either side and, after 5 minutes walk at casual pace one will reach the down town area of Atsugi where commercial offices and malls are located. Had a couple of Japanese grilled meat & seafood meals in that vincinity during my stay. Both were nice. To summarise, this hotel is good enough ( and value for money ) for 3 - 4 nights' stay for a casual tourist.

    Great helpful friendly staff

This is our second year in a row staying here. Staff at the front desk are always willing to assist. One of the staff called the city pool for me. Breakfast is very good and staff are very friendly hard working. They take pride in what they do. Close to station, department stores, and tons of dining choices.

    A comfortable hotel in Japan

I attended a conference this week in Tokai University, Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefacture, 2 hours drive from Tokyo. I stayed at the Rembrandt hotel - this is a medium sized hotel. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Complimentary coffee making facilities are available in the room - something I always look forward to on my trips. The shower produced a good hot jet of water - excellent after a long day of meetings. As everywhere in Japan the toilets were super clean.Restaurants close at 8 pm on weekdays so we were hungry and disappointed when we checked in at 9 pm after a long flight and then, road trip - but there are many restaurants within a short walking distance just outside the hotel and they are open late into the night. On the last day, the meeting ended early so I got to eat in the Chinese Restaurant in the hotel - food was fresh and tasty but as there were just 2 of us, we ordered small servings - and the servings came very small !! for the prawn / scallop dish there was only 1 prawn and 2 scallops ! - so be warned, if you are hungry order big portions. The waitress does not understand English - in spite of showing Google translator on our Iphone - it took ages to get warm water, though she understood beer quickly ! Overall I was happy with the service provided at the Rembrandt, Atsugi.

Good deal for a few-days business trip

Location: if you would like to reach this hotel from Narita airport, take Keisei bus for 3650 JPY and have 2h 20min trip to Hon Atsugi station. This is the most convenient way, if you want to have some sleep after your flight and/or wish to avoid crazy trains. Same cost and duration comparing to trains. This is 5 mins walking from Hon Atsugi train station, full of different shops, cafe and other funny places. You can reach Nissan Tech Center by taxi, it takes 20-25 minutes to drive and 2600-3000 JPY depending on traffic condition. Room: it was quite small room for me comparing to other hotels (just imagine, that I put my baggage to the floor and had a difficulties while crossing the room), but I had a good sleep (thanks to air conditioning + humidifier and convenient bed). Bathroom is also small and has only 1 set of towels per person, but very clean. Stable wi-fi, working table, small fridge, TV, kettle and cups... and no bottles of still water (they should be 'must have', sorry). Breakfast: every day is same, you can choose between corn flakes and milk, pastries and coffee or tea, smth hot (potato, bacon, scrambled eggs, vegetables, chicken teriyaki etc.) Didn't find any cold cuts, fruits and any other juices except orange and grapefruit. It is OK to vary within 3-5 days, but for longer stay you need to get some alternatives in Starbucks, McD or others. Summary: it is a good place to stay in Atsugi for short business trip (thanks to limited choice of hotels in this area), 'value for money' was 5/5 for me. I can recommend this hotel.

    Mediocre Hotel

This hotel is quite mediocre. Not very fancy, not very bad. The hotel location is good. Close to train stations, about 10 min walk. Close to lively area of restaurants. The rooms are very small and not super clean. Furnitures worn out but still functioning. Staff kind and effecient.
