  A late arrival of a ferry to Ancona meant that we couldn't get to Fontevivo till after midnight. We had been looking forward to our return visit to this sophisticated, informal hotel and to eating in their exceptional restaurant. Even at the late hour the owner was at the door to welcome us and a supper trolley of cold, local produce was served in our room. We can't praise this place enough.

  The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The building, a former monastery, was quite beautiful and had an interesting history. The owners/managers were very pleasant and helpful. A well regarded restaurant on site served us a delicious dinner that evening and an excellent breakfast the next morning.

  Amazing character perfect for a peaceful relaxing break.

  This is a former monastery which has been converted to a hotel that caters for parties, weddings and conferences and run by a family that take pride in the place and who are great hosts. We had a two night mid week stay to break the journey on the drive from Switzerland to Lucca in Italy and this place was just perfect, peaceful and had everything in the room that was needed including a lovely view across farmland. We had dinner in the hotel the first evening which was just amazing. I had the most delicious rack of lamb with herb crust which was so tender it practically melted in my mouth while my wife had the risotto which she thoroughly enjoyed. This building is steeped in history and has the original bell tower still in perfect working order together with lots of antiques and many other interesting features to numerous to mention. Breakfast on both mornings was excellent with a selection of yogurts, fruit, cereals, bred, cakes, cheese, Parma ham and a variety of cooked egg options. It is in a fantastic location about 10km from Parma and the airport perfect for a short break. Thanks again to TripAdvisor for another wonderful find.

  Serene Sleep, delicious dinner

  We stopped here enroute southern Italy and the UK, and this hotel was fantastic. We were welcomed to our room which was very comfortable and clean, with a good shower and large bathroom. We were traveling with our dog and the hotel were really accommodating and even made her welcome. However, the highlight of our stay was dinner - a simple, fresh and delicious menu of the day with good choices - we really enjoy our food, and the chef creates great food. All of the staff we were in contact with, were friendly and helpful and wed certainly recommend the hotel and wed stay here again if we got the chance.

  Monastic accommodation but dine like a royal !

  This was certainly the best place to stay and eat in Fontevivo. It was worth walking around the former monastery to discover hidden charms, such as the collection of antique harmonicas. The staff were friendly, the location romantic, dinner was delicious and breakfast was plentiful.
