An amazing property in an absolute beautiful area of France!!!Le Relais de Franc Mayne is a stunning and amazing property in St. Emilion. The property is clean, the guest rooms amazingly decorated, and the staff extremely helpful, always available and willing to assist. A few days prior to the stay I received a note advising they were ready for my visit. I traveled with a family of 4 along with another family of 4 and all of my expectations were met and beyond. The breakfast hit the right spot, the common areas were wonderfully maintained and the tour of the vineyard is a must.

Tour of Franc MayneWe had a wonderful tour of this chateau, it was quite something being underground you really got the feel of the history of life back then. The guide was very good and excellent English. Also had a look inside the property by the lovely Charlotte, who was very helpful and answered all our questions, and would definitely book a stay next time in St-Emilion.

Great weekend in St EmilionWe loved the Relais de Franc Mayne. The room was spacious, The garden is lovely and the natural pool with plants is unusual (slippery on the left side). The personnel was adorable and very helpful. We had great breakfasts, outside when the weather was good and inside after a storm. The 20 mn walk to St Emilion through the vineyards is lovely. We really enjoyed our stay .

Amazing service, cool vineyard experienceI want to start with the best thing about this place and that is Charlotte, the "innkeeper." Charlotte lives at Le Relais de Franc Mayne and is the one who checks you in, serves breakfast and probably is the one corresponding with you when you book. When you check in, she gives you her phone number in case something comes up while she is not at the front desk. I wrote it down, never expecting to use it. But I was glad I did, when a few hours later, I noticed that our train the next morning from Bordeaux to Paris had been canceled by an SNCF train strike, which was apparently growing and becoming more serious. It was taking out all of the trains for the next 2-3 days, and we HAD to get back to Paris. So we called Charlotte and she sprung into action to help, even though she was out to dinner. She helped us think about options for getting back to Paris, called Hertz for us to see if we could keep our rental car -- so we would have a French speaker on our side (Unfortunately, even having a French speaker on our side didn't help us with Hertz.) She went above and beyond, which we appreciated so much. We ended up getting a flight from Bordeaux to Paris. As for the B&B itself. I think it's a great choice if you are looking to stay at a working vineyard in the St. Emilion area and want to learn something about how wine is made and its history. We took the free tour they offered and got so much more than just information about their wine with a tasting at the end. We saw evidence of history stretching all the way back to the 3rd Century. The house itself is pretty cool. It was bought by a billionaire in 2018 and completely redone, so some of the worrisome reviews you may see here from a few years ago are no longer applicable. I would ignore them. Our room was very large and the view was lovely. The bed was soft and queen-sized. The accommodations, while expensive, are not super luxurious. I would call them very nice. I think the cost of the room stems from the fact that the area of St Emilion is very touristy and expensive, something you'll also see when you eat at the restaurants in town. They were as expensive as restaurants in Paris. The garden here is amazing. I read a book in a comfy chair on the lawn near a bubbling natural pool. The breakfast in the morning was the best I'd had yet: Coffee, tea, croissants, cake, baguette, cheese, ham, granola, fromage blanc, fruit, preserves. Delicious. Le Relais de Franc Mayne is near but not in the town of St. Emilion, so you will need a car. You could walk into St. Emilion during the day, but at night, it's way too dark and dangerous to walk along the road into town.
