    Escape to the country

On our most recent visit to England to see our 6 month old granddaughter for the very first time, my wife and I decided to stay somewhere different for this visit (not that there is anything wrong with our usual accommodation when visiting the Higham Ferrers region) just for a change. Our research came across Redlands Farm B & B and we were so glad we decided to stay here for 7 nights in late October. We booked direct online and found it easy and better than using any third party booking service. We paid our deposit by PayPal and balance on arrival. The entrance to the property while directly off the A45 can be difficult to spot unless you follow the instructions given upon booking or checking Google Maps. Doing this makes it quite easy as there is no slip lane from the A45 into the property. During our stay there was a road works ahead sign placed at the driveway and this made the driveway noticeable, especially at night. Upon entering the remote controlled entrance you drive up the made road a few hundred metres off the A45 to the Farm House. Here we were met by the owners who were walking their dogs in the fields. We were made to feel welcome and after patting the dogs (my wife loves dogs!!!) we were shown our room. Our room, as was the other room available, is located on the ground floor and was very comfortable. It ticked all the boxes we look for in enjoying a good stay. This includes comfortable bed, clean rooms, good thirsty bath towels and probably our room had the best hot shower we have experienced in the UK. The hot water had a good strong flow, it heated up very quickly and was easy to use. (the UK shower taps work differently than those in Australia) We also enjoyed the farm views from our window. The location of the rooms is far enough from the A45 and any other roads so that you can not hear any traffic sounds but you can enjoy fresh country air. The breakfast room is in the same building and was opposite our room. We would describe the breakfast room as a newly built conservatory that has a very warm, friendly country feel along with magnificent views over the valley. you can also use this room during the day to read and relax. For breakfast I had the full English breakfast which was a very good serve that included their own home made sausages. My wife had yoghurt and toast. Sandra, the lady that served us our breakfast is a great source of information of where the produce comes from that they serve with breakfast. We had some good chats with her about the B & B and local area. The honey that is also available is also locally produced and was a favourite with us. Christine and Geoff (The owners) were very friendly in their dealings with us and also are very passionate about their goat farm and what they do. They provided us with tastings of their goats cheeses made from their own goats and also a tour of the goat farm (very intresting). We purchased a few of their different varieties of goats cheese and gave them as gifts to our son and his family and they loved them. The nearby villages of Stanwick and Higham Ferrers, both with very old historic churches and fantastic pubs and historic atmosphere, are only about an easy 5 minute drive from the B & B. The larger town of Rushden, which has an ASDA store and the Rushden Lakes Shopping Centre is about 10 minutes drive away. Our overall impression of Redlands Farm B &B is that we would highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to enjoy a comfortable, no hassle, relaxed hideaway place where you can enjoy fresh air and views. The location is great place to base yourself to visit the history and herritage of the county. Christine, Sandra and Geoff are passionate about what they do and it shows as they are very friendly. We will look forward to staying here again on our next visit to the UK

    Overnight stay

Not a bad B&B but if you don't like the smell of dogs I would avoid. Nice couple running it and a good decent breakfast. The accomodation was good and clean and being out in the country nice and quiet.

    Self contained perfection!

We booked both available rooms for ourselves and my in-laws. Each room was very spacious with its own walk-in shower room, very comfortable beds and the most stunnning views over Northamptonshire. There was also a private lounge with windows all around with a large screen tv equipped with sky, a big comfy leather sofa and a big soft squishy armchair plus a large breakfast table which could also be used to eat takeaways if required. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious. We will be coming back soon as we have several family members living n the area.

Lovely and secluded location. Great hosts and lovely facilities and great breakfast. Stayed 17/18 May 2019. The couple own a goat farm and we were shown about and see all the goats. Would recommend and will visit again.

The best of a Covid situation

THis is a good little B&B and they have done very well to make it all covid secure. Unfortunately that means no normal breakfast but the continental delivered to my room was excellent. Very nice owners.
