  Quiet and excellent value

  The hotel is situated in a quiet village with not much to do but an excellent base for touring around. It has good facilities and the rooms are spacious and well furnished. The owners and staff are very pleasant and helpful. They made us feel welcome and offered all sorts of information about the surrounding area. Breakfast was plentiful and of high quality. The décor and general ambience is good. Downside was lack of evening meal option, also be aware arriving between 2and 4pm the reception is closed, so be sure to arrive outwith the closed period. Each room seemed to have a balcony furnished with a table and chairs and the bedroom itself had easy chairs and TV. There was a limited room service menu available. Wi-Fi reception isn't great. Overall an enjoyable stay.

  Terrible Service!

  Unfortunately, this was the first time I have had such terrible experience with a hotel (and I travel a lot!). I booked this hotel last week via Hotels.com for one night. When my friends and I reached the hotel (around 10:30 PM), the entrance door was closed. There was a number on the door which we called multiple times; however, not one person picked up. Upon reading the signs on their door, we learned that they close at 10:00 PM. Unfortunately, this was not stated anywhere on our booking, nor did we get an email letting us know about this. We then booked the Mercure hotel nearby which had fabulous service (and is open 24h) for a slightly higher price. When I called hotels.com, they refused to give me a refund, and the same goes for the hotel when we called them the following morning. They simply laughed at us and said "you were late, no refund". Since they decided to keep my money, I am entitled to write a review about my experience with them. I booked a couple of other small hotels for that week (which were all in secluded areas as well); however, they had the decency to send us an email to inform us of their operating hours and gave us their lock box information in case we arrived late. I really would not recommend booking these guys if you can get better hotel chains nearby for a slightly higher price with better service.

  Hotel in general

  Best advice I can give anyone is stay away from this hotel. Service is shabby, hostess is far away from congenial. Heres a few things, hallways are not lite at night time, totally dark, no fridges in room, no coffee machine, poor mattress on beds, I have bigger cushions on my couch than the have pillows, tv did not work (someone apparently cut the line), no ice available to hv a drink, hostess claims they have never supplied ice as they only drink beer, restaurant under construction...and the list could get longer....I should hv listened to gut instinct but we were too tired.....STAY AWAY!!!?, rating it as poor!

  nice hotel in a small and quiet town

  it's a small hotel located near the franch border, very quiet small town - and you must have car to go there. if you have a car then it's ok. you also get free parking space infront or behind the hotel. the staff is very helpful and nice, the price is cheap (after all it's 3 stars hotel) but it's very clean, very nice, also a nice view from your room, and the breakfast (was includ in the room rate) was very good - much more then i expected from 3 stars hotel. the shower is ok, and the beds are nice and comfy.... but nothing to watch on tv :) two main problems; 1. the wi-fi "comes and go" - but maybe it was a temporary problem, i really dont know - i just know that it was a big problem for me. 2. the walls are so thin you can hear every noise that comes from the next room :) one last thing - i was when it was a but cold but i noticed that they don't have air condition in the room - that might be a big problem for summer time. but overall i really recomend this hotel if you in the area and need a cheap but clean and nice hotel for one or two nights.

  Hotel de carretera que NO repetiremos

  Lo único bueno es el desayuno que es muy variado, un muy buen servicio y las habitaciones muy limpias. Pero la ubicación para visitar Gengenbach no nos gustó, en coche está cerca pero creo que en el mismo Gengenbach sale más a cuenta que no ir y volver. El trato fue seco del personal, sin ninguna idea de español ni ganas de ayudar en nada. Nos hicieron cambiar nuestro coche de sitio de pàrquing y no sabemos el motivo ya que todo era en alemán y no se preocuparon en si lo entendíamos o no. Fatal .
