  Trip to Lake Kivu

  The accommodation was just what we needed: simple, clean and a great location with a view from the dining veranda across the lake. Very welcoming staff. Variable Wi-Fi and lost running hot water at one point. Took a boat trip in the afternoon to 'Peace Island' on Lake Kivu with the group of ten friends. Relaxing time on the boat; lovely swim at the island. Could happily have stayed at this hotel longer if time had permitted.

  Simple, practical

  I have only one night to comment on but I have no major complaints and would happily have stayed longer, given the opportunity. It is not what I would call luxurious but clean and comfortable, sensible accommodation. It certainly met our needs for an overnight stop. There was some issue with our booking not initially tallying with what we were offered but this was sorted out without fuss or bother. It is pleasantly situated overlooking Lake Kivu. The rooms are designed more for sleeping in than living in but hopefully that is how it will be! Bathroom comparatively small and there was no water at one stage (a hazard in Rwanda, from my experience so not necessarily the fault of Rebero.) There is a pleasant bar/eating area. We did eat better during our week of travel but no complaints about the food. Service was always friendly. I think there is more to both the resort and the town than we discovered!

  Friendly welcome. Wait of >1h for a tuna sandwich. Other guests were served first, although arriving far later. Immediately asked to pay upon serving fairly acceptable sandwich. Price/value ok but not very welcoming after all.

  Rebero kivu resort

  Our stay at Rebero was the highlight of our visit to Lake Kivu. the staff, was extremely accommodating by letting us check in early and offered to arrange a boat tour of islands on the lake or other activities. The room had a nice view through a few trees of the lake, and the staff allowed us to enjoy our dinner and even breakfast from the table outside of our room (room service!). The breakfast was good with eggs, toast, fruit and coffee or tea. Everything was kept incredibly clean, and the rooms were simple but cute. The showers and toilets functioned well. There was hot water even after it had rained in the afternoon with significant cloud cover. Furthermore, when we were delayed the next day because our driver did not show up for six hours, Odon allowed us to stay comfortably at the hotel in the restaurant. We even borrowed the shower a second time after check out. It was truly service above and beyond what we expected. Yet another example is how they brought us hot water in a thermos to drink after being drenched from the afternoon storm. Rebero is a great value option and considering reviews of other places, I think we lucked out in choosing here versus some of the other locations we considered. We stayed in a triple room as three friends, female. We highly recommend anyone to stay at Rebero when visiting Lake Kivu.

  Comfortable, relaxing stay

  We spent three nights here and really enjoyed our stay. Our double room was clean and spacious with a good bathroom. The hotel has an attached restaurant with delicious food which is very convenient. The food does take its time though. The balcony of the restaurant overlooks the lake which is quite atmospheric. The hotel can also help organise boat trip which adds to the convenience. All the staff were friendly and polite, and went out of their way to help us with our time in Kibuye (Honere was a highlight)- highly recommended.
