    Exceptional Austrian hospitality and comfort

I have just returned from a winter break with my wife and daughter. We chose Austria for its charm and friendliness, which was greatly in evidence at the Hotel Rauriserhof. The hotel certainly lived up to the comments in previous reviews, especially the standard of customer service, food quality, comfort, leisure facilities and attention to detail. The hotel staff and management could not have done more to make our stay a great holiday experience. I would thoroughly recommend Rauris to those looking for a holiday in a quiet family friendly Austrian ski resort and the Hotel Rauriserhof as a great place to stay. While the skiing is not extensive, there are varied long runs with superb views and vistas. There are also some great winter walking trails with equipment and advice provided by the hotel. Overall a great experience

    Exceeded our expectations.

If you are looking for a friendly, cosy, well-appointed hotel that offers excellent service and facilities in a charming Austrian village, then look no further than the Hotel Rauriserhof in Rauris. We chose the resort as one of us was a first time skier, and Rauris is just perfect for that. The nursery slope is a great start and the initial blue slopes will test you, without putting you off. The resort isn't crammed with Apres Ski bars, but to be honest that suited us. The lure of the open fire in the hotel bar meant that once off the mountain, and after a couple of beers and schnapps in the Maislau Bar we were soon sat back in the hotel enjoying the hospitality. Now onto the hotel. The Rauriserhof is an excellent 4* hotel, that offers a perfect balance of excellent standard with a relaxed atmosphere. We felt completely comfortable taking off our skis, boots and wet clothes, leaving them in the boot room before sitting in the hotel bar in thermals drinking more local schnapps and beer. Conversely, we would have felt just as comfortable getting changed and dressed for dinner and sitting in the same bar. The open fire is a lovely touch and we enjoyed keeping it blazing with logs. The bar staff are attentive, but relaxed, and even conceded to our many requests for changes to the music playlists that were keeping us entertained. The restaurant, chef and staff are a credit to the hotel. One of us is vegan, and following some advance notice, the chef went extra special lengths to provide excellent bespoke food every evening. The morning breakfast buffet was also excellent. The bedrooms are more than adequate, but who spends much time in the bedroom on holiday anyway?? Finally, the pool, sauna and spa facilities were a lovely bonus, and provided a special relaxation area at the end of a long day's skiing. The negative is that we hesitate to recommend this hotel - but only because we want to keep it secret for ourselves!! Well done to the Family Mayr an all their excellent staff. We look forward to returning next year.

    Great food and atmosphere

This hotel is the best place we have ever stayed in a ski resort. The hotel is modern and the food is top quality. I can only comment on our bedroom but it was tired and the shower was very poor. But everything else was so good it's still worth full marks. We fully intend on returning to this hotel. The staff were very nice and professional. The spa was lovely but it's a shame the jacuzzi was cold.

Real luxury in a beautiful small family resort

Currently staying here with my wife + son and daughter in law. The hotel is beautiful and the family running the business couldnt be more hospitable. The rooms are spotless with everything required for a relaxing holiday. The leisure complex is great after a days skiing however the highlight is the restaurant and staff. The food is excellent with a very broad wine list to match every dish. The resort is small and very friendly. Food on the mountain is good and surprisingly reasonably priced when compared to bigger resorts. If you are looking for a lovely hotel in a great resort perfect for families or couples look no further. Great value and the quality in all respects is fantastic. Thanks to the team for a lovely holiday.

    Excellent stay

For our first ever skiing holiday a perfect resort and hotel for adult beginners. Hotel is in a picture box village setting, stunning surroundings and family run, so hospitable with varied day to day activities on offer with fantastic facilities to cater for all needs. Service at the hotel is excellent and staff exceptional, staff setting very good standards for a 4*. The restaurant modern and comfortable and food of exceptional standard and quality. We liked being sat as a group of 8 adults (x2 families) at the same table for our breakfast and evening meal, nice not to have to wait for a table, you can choose to dine with ease at a time of your convenience between times allocated. Nothing was too much trouble and a varied buffet and gourmet menu to choose from, all home made and fresh, great attention to detail. The local ski school great and before we knew it we were technically capable and on the blue runs, be mindful though, Rauris/Austria is renowned for highest/steepest of mountain slopes in Europe so if learning, the blue runs are definitely daunting but guided equivalent of red runs in other countries but your in safe hands with the instructors, would definitely return, resort quiet compared to other apres ski areas (as per guided by our friends) but perfect for us. Food and drink reasonable in the village and on the slopes. The only area for improvement would be the hotel rooms are dated, if upgraded would make this amazing hotel easily awarded 5* but spotlessly clean and an exceptional choice, you won't be disappointed.
