TiredThis hotel is some distance from the centre of Ranong, but on the main road passed. We noticed that the market seemed to have moved from the street in the old town to the end of the park so probably in walking distance from the hotel. All the bars and restaurants seem to be a car ride away. Although this hotel is a little tired and frayed around the edges rooms are clean and comfortable with HOT water. We stayed in a standard room for 600 baht with ac but no fridge or coffee making facilities. There is a restaurant attached but we didn't use it. In the evening there seemed to be some sort of entertainment there the noise of which filtered up to the room. Our room was 226 which was quite noisy as it was close to the stairs and the lift also the kitchen extractor fan was right outside our window. The odd number rooms face the main road but as the hotel is set back they should be fine. Staff were friendly and helpful particularly the porter who seemed to be the only one with a knowledge of English. We tried to pay with credit card to no avail but the same card was used in Tescos later with no problem. This hotel is the only place in Thailand where we have seen chip and pin.

Wouldn't be backFirstly we called to the hotel to ask for the rate for a night. The lady told us the price which is much more expensive than Booking.Com So we booked this hotel via Booking.Com because other places were full during our period of stay. Lucky we booked only for 1 night, otherwise I would have made early check out. We arrival with the booking confirmation but the lady told us for the rate we booked we will get twin bed and we will get single bed if we pay more, which is none sense as in Booking.com I already booked for the single bed with that rate. She still kept telling us to pay more for single bed. So we asked her to show us both different room. She showed us the room of single bed which was 2 single beds combined together. If we had to pay more for this bed? no? We decided to take twin bed, and we made them to one single bed by ourselves. The room condition was ok compare with the price. But the bathroom was dirty :( I could not wait to leave in the morning. Yuck!

0 Service, room okIf you can skip the non-existent service, the room is ok for the price you pay. As others said, do not book with the hotel directly. Why would they offer you inflated prices over the online travel agents( ie booking.com, agoda, etc.) is beyond me. For these OTA they need to pay 10-15% of the rate as commission, still they quote you about 35% higher. If they quote you same price they will make as profit the commission that otherwise they have to pay to OTA. Also they want to charge you more to put beds together to make it as a king size. I said no thank you and did it myself. On the other hand, room is ok, ac very cold, hot water. No wifi in the room although advertised as an amenity. No English tv channels. Main door is very thin, you can hear the receptionist using a bell to call the boy at the door which is very annoying. Will I be back? Hmmmm, don't think I will go to Ranong, but if I do, I will definitely stay somewhere else. Nick

Very averageThis was obviously once upon a time a great hotel, but years of lack of maintenance makes it a grubby run down property, on a positive note the room was a good size and the rate was low, about AUD $24 per night - another example of getting what you pay for. The staff could also do a lot to improve their customer relations. Not recommended unless you're on a budget.

SoloThis is a 3 star type hotel I don't know what all the other reviewers are talking about I found this place quite cozy for a couple of nights. English not good but your in Thailand and why expect English and for the TV when most visitors are local's and speak Thai. For the price there's not a lot better if you want better then pay more and go into city centre and stop wingding, but for a budget take my word there's not much better around. I just rocked up and got the best price.
