A life saver! We were to stay at our previous B& B for two nights but had to leave. We looked in an B&B book I had picked up somewhere along the way on this our 4th trip to Ireland and under Ballyshannon found Randwick. We knocked at the door and John answered. I asked if he had a room for the night - yes- and it turned out to be a room with 2 twin beds but that was just fine with us, we had no other place to go, He showed me to the room and it was perfect! Upon getting our suitcases, he put mine on the table so I did not have to reach down. He directed us to a local restaurant for dinner and it was just fine. He told us about his trip to Antarctic on an ice breaker and his time in Australia He has a weathered face that belongs on a ship. :) Towels were fine and sufficient. He showed extra bedding location if we needed anything. In chilly weather, it was cozy and warm in the a.m. Breakfast was cooked by him and was just perfect. Sideboard was adequate too. We never had asked the tariff but it was spot on. The best part is he makes his own jams and jellies! His orange marmalade is soooo very good - better than anything you will find in a store. He also makes rhubarb jam - my favorite and something we can not get in the States. The house is very nice. Our room had a nice view of the back yard. We paid with cc as we had not been to the ATM. His wife has medical issues but was as nice as could be - she runs the business side, he does the rest.

Good Option for BallyshannonI'd have to say that Randwick wasn't our favorite among the 6 B&Bs we visited on our recent trip through Ireland. It's in a good spot on the way into Ballyshannon, which is on the edge of Donegal, and that made it attractivesince it was early in our trip and had no idea how long the drives would take to different parts of the country. The proprietors seemed a little standoffish, which we couldn't understand unless it was because we'd asked them to stick a bottle of wine in their refrigerator for us. Anyway, the room was fine, with a nice en suite bathroom, and the Irish breakfast was perfect. The main part of the town was just a short drive away. If we had to do it again and needed a base from which we'd visit Donegal sites, we'd probably opt to go further up into the county, either along the coast or up toward the national park.

Great place to stayReally enjoyed our three day stay here. John and Clare were very sweet to my daughter and I, even though illness in the family was a big concern. John's breakfasts were over the top wonderful. Would definitely stay there again if I'm ever in the area.

Wonderful visit to Randwick B&BJohn was an amazing host and catered to us and our 1year old baby. The breakfast cooked was a lovely traditional Irish breakfast which we enjoyed. The pots of tea for supper were more than welcome. I would highly recommend staying there. The rooms were clean and tidy and John had a beautiful garden to show off.
