    This is no Ramada

As a seasoned and very easy going business traveller, I was disappointed right from when I first arrived. This was a mostly negative experience, but I'll start with the positive, because there was some. - room very attractive style wise - effective black-out curtains (necessary because my window was directly behind the neon RAMADA sign) - room temperature easy to control (once I figured out the thermostat (thank you, Google Translate). - comfortable bed - excellent shower, good water pressure - nice to have amenities (toothbrush, comb, qtips...) I hadn't planned for an overnight in this area so I didn't have any of this with me. Now the negatives. - "free" WiFi was so free it didn't exist. After numerous calls and several new passwords provided, they admitted that there was a problem with the system and the WiFi doesn't work. No solution. - carpet in the room was filthy. The room was clean otherwise, but I don't believe the cleaning staff have access to a vacuum, or if they do, it isn't commonly used. - walls/doors are paper thin and the noise in the hallway was not drowned out at all. It was like there was a party in my room. - cannot use foreign credit cards. First my American Express corporate card wouldn't work at all, then, after taking 600 RMB deposit from my Visa, upon check-out the deposit could not be refunded. I was told that in 30 days it would release, but I am sceptical. I had to pay cash to check out. - lobby and breakfast restaurant are FREEZING cold. No heat in the public areas whatsoever - breakfast was just sad. I took a "hash brown" which was actually a pork schnitzel (cold). Not a lot of selection, and presentation not attractive. - the bedside table plug-in actually leached power from my mobile phone overnight. For some reason after I went to sleep, my phone went from 90% charge to 1% charge. How can an outlet REMOVE power? At this hotel, they've figured it out. - prostitutes are allowed into the hotel to roam the halls, knock on doors, and leave their calling cards behind. I understand that this is common in China, but COME ON. This is supposed to be a "classy" hotel, and I am a WOMAN. Every other hotel I've stayed at in many cities in China my feminine status has left me immune to this middle of the night bother. My male colleagues cannot say the same. At this Ramada, they are equal opportunity prostitutes who don't discriminate. I chose this hotel because I believed by the name Ramada that I could have a reliably comfortable unplanned night. And though there were good aspects to this hotel, it should not bear the name Ramada. I seriously wonder if anyone from Ramada Corporate has ever even been here? Foreigners beware - be prepared with cash, and have a Chinese colleague with you as no one in the hotel speaks English at all. I managed with Google Translate.

    A decent hotel

I visited shanghai for i corrugated exhibition and we were offered rooms in ramada minhang. The rooms were spacious , clean. The bathroom was also very huge. The only problem i encountered was that even being a global chain of hotel there were no english speaking staff so had to use translator even for small things. There is no currency exchange in hotel which was a problem as i reached in the evening and the bank nearby was closed. There is nothing for shopping or leisure nearby the hotel. It took us almost 1 hour to reach the hotel from the pudong airport. Otherwise the hotel was great , the breakfast was delicious ; it also had vegetarian options.

    good experience

great hotel, with spacious rooms. food not bad (all chinese) problems: not much english with staff, but they do try with translator apps. gymnasium was not functional for tourists, not close to Nanjing road and The Bund, but there is nearby metro overall: good experience

    Great place for business!

The hotel is clean and comfortable! Quiet at night! If you are there for business, it is close to industrial zones so commute times are short! Breakfast was good too! Mostly Chinese. Staff barely speaks English but hey, it's China! If you plan to go downtown, better stay somewhere else.
