  Great gem hiding in Ottawa

  We popped in for a night to enjoy the riverfront location and pool. Check in staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was very modern and clean, we could tell had recently been renovated and refurbished. View of trees and the river felt like we were at a cottage. Pool is big, cool, and clean. (Dont be fooled by faded floor paint at the shallow end that looks like dirt but isnt.) Pool area would benefit from some umbrellas as the sun was hot. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious and well presented, and super friendly and caring service from Darlene. The burger and caprese chicken parm were delicious, as was the coconut shrimp. Next time Ill try the cod fish and chips. Only minor issue was a young male employee who lurked around the property like the rule-police, just waiting for someone to do something he could reprimand them for. He made us feel like we had something to hide, and honestly made things a bit uncomfortable. Total contrast from all the other staff who were wonderful.

  Quaint hotel - 2 separate stays

  First stay, a 2 night stay july 17-19 2020 (room 255) and then returned for a second 9 night stay July 31- Aug 9 2020 (room 252). Reservation reps and front desk reps were friendly and helpful. Proper Covid-19 protocol being followed (shield, hand sanitizer, customer masking required in lobby, and limit of 4 distanced customers in lobby at a time) . Located on the Rideau River, this hotel provides a quaint location, with comfortable rooms. Described as "Executive Suites" , both rooms were quite compact for an 'executive suite', very limited desk area (limited depth), but functional, 2 double beds in each room were quite comfortable (we slept well). Room was clean on arrival and good housekeeping provided every 3rd day. Good television and cable service. Rooms included a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, and we asked for a toaster and got one, yay! Word of caution (and room for improvement) on the beds' supporting legs, they protrude the mattress corners, solid wood right to the floor, and with the compact walking space, they make painful toe stumpers, both my wife an I kicked them on more than one occasion. Our rooms were on the second level (200's) with a third level room above us. In both rooms, when people walked the floor above us, it was annoying because you could hear every thumping step, not pleasant when trying to get to sleep, or waking up prematurely in the morning to the thumps. Air conditioner was good, but a tad noisy. In room 255 (first stay) the carpeting in front of the air conditioner and desk & drawer unit was wet, which was reported, don't know if that was the air conditioner condensing humidity or what (hot, humid day). There's a nice little 2 chair balcony (barely deep enough to fit a chair) with very limited view of the Rideau (trees blocked river view in room 255, partial river view in room 252). Bathroom vanity area with sink was quite compact, had no towel ring to hang hand towels, therefore the limited counter space becomes the towel pile. Very compact toilet, tub and shower 'room' were dated, but clean and functional, at times the shower was quite slow to get hot water, but eventually came (minutes). Shower water pressure was ok but marginal. Turning on the light in the toilet/tub area included a noisy fan, not pleasant when your partner is trying to sleep. One evening we were able to procure some firewood and marshmallows, and enjoyed using a stand up fire pit, with lawn chairs facing the Rideau, for marshmallows with the kids. There's an adequate supply of mosquitos so bring repellant lol. We got back very late one night, parking was pretty full, so we had to drive around the parking area to find a spot and was having trouble to find one. When we drove by the front office a second time, we were greeted by the night front desk rep, who came out to verify that we were staying at the hotel, and assisted us to find a spot. Having been a victim of vehicle vandalism and theft at another hotel, it was reassuring that someone was keeping a lookout over the parking area. Parking spaces are tight ( lines spaced for door denting by inconsiderates ) but for the most part, adequately available. All in all, a pleasant stay and good value for money (paid $107 per night plus tax), we will stay there again (plan to return in September, although price has increased to $118 per night plus tax).

  Super small for the price

  On the website it said renovated, it was not... Still carpet, room very dark and super small, I hurt myself 4 times getting dressed in the super tiny bathroom. The drawers were dirty, considering the Covid, it is not appropriate. We had « breakfast bag to go » and it was a bottle of water, a super sweet no fruit or anything muffin (2 cranberries in entire muffin) a yogurt and rotten apples... seriously.... We heard noises all the time. it was double beds and no microwave.... ok it is not written so in description, I have read wrong, it is just so Queen beds and microwave everywhere that I never thought otherwise... The room was absolutely not the 293$ we paid in total for the 2 nights. Only good point : pool clean (but freezing cold) And the Rideau canal...´ Will not go back and would not recommend

  December get away to the home away from home

  Another wonderful stay in one of our favorite hotels. A pre christmas get away was made extra special with the beautiful views and the kindness of the staff. As someone who lives in a huge apartment building in a middle of the city, we find this property extra special with their lovely location in nature, comfy rooms, delicious foods and absolutely wonderful staff. Thank you once again for having us and making our stay extra special!

  Ramada on the Rideau

  Rooms where not very clean. I would have expected to be spotless especially during this COVID lockdown. Toilet was dirty, carpets look like they havent been vacuumed; and the table/desk tops where dirty. I had to go over them with Lysol wipes.
