Terrible hotelI stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in Dec 2019. This is genuinely one of the worst hotels I have stayed at. This hotel fails are almost every single basic expectation you of a hotel. Room - Was not clean. The bathroom had a puddle on arrival. Spotlight above the sink had a leak coming out of it. Shattaf/Bidet was leaking. Shower drain completely blocked. Bathroom floor was dirty. Window was faulty and did not shut properly. I reported all of the above things on the first night. The 2 leaks were fixed fairly promptly, this was good. However, he left the bathroom in even more of a mess than it originally was. There was water all over the floor, along with bits of stone and rubble which fell from the ceiling when he was repairing the ceiling. I asked him to clean it, but he said he would inform housekeeping. I also phoned housekeeping. However, no one arrived to clean the room. The maintenance person was unable to fix the window, which meant that we heard road noise and cars beeping all night. Someone came to unblock the shower drain the next morning. However, it after telling me it was done, we found the next morning it wasn't, and was exactly the same. This caused standing water which overflowed the shower, and caused further flooding in the bathroom. How can someone be so incompetent than to check if the work they have done is actually done? Only 1 toilet roll is every left at any one time. I had 3 people in my room. It was a very cheap toilet roll which did not last long. Lifts - Ridiculous. Just ridiculous. After every prayer there is very long queues, almost 20-30 mins to get into a lift. In order to remedy this, maintenance will turn lifts off every 5 minutes to return them all to the first floor to fill them up. HOWEVER, PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY IN THE LIFTS ALSO COME BACK DOWN BEFORE REACHING THEIR ROOM. Utterly stupid. You end up having people getting frustrated and pushing to get into a lift as if they are pushing to touch the Hajr e Aswad. Breakfast - For such a large hotel, one person making eggs is not sufficient. I did not enjoy waiting 30 minutes for an omelette. Coffee was terrible. After the first day of breakfast I decided it was not worth going back, and opted to eat elsewhere. General service - I requested an iron 2 times, it did not arrive. The next day I went to reception and finally received a non-steam iron, without an ironing board, by a very rude staff member who insisted on me returning the iron to the cleaner at a specific time. I have never stayed at a hotel which insists I return the iron. Most hotels will collect the iron the next time they clean the room. The room wasn't cleaned in the 2 days I stayed at this hotel. There was never any porters available. We had 4 rooms booked in this hotel with 12 people. We had to take all our own bags down at checkout, down the very slow lifts, 17 floors. No wifi in the room, only in the lobby. I believe the hotel is set to either close or be bought over. It is very apparent that no money has been spent on the hotel in some time, and the management do not intend to spend any money on it. I am glad I only had 2 nights in this hotel, as anymore I would have been forced to try and find elsewhere.
