  avoid this place at all costs

  stayed here two nights in January 2021. The hotel is clean enough but the staff took my cash to pay for my room and then charged my credit card also; biggest complaint was lack of regard for COVID-19 MASK ENFORCEMENT. The only employee wearing a mask was the girl at the front desk, the maintenance worker around the indoor pool was not wearing a mask, the person who brought us extra pillows the first night was not wearing a mask and at least 50% of the guests were walking the halls or sitting dry around the pool were NOT wearing masks. When I brought these concerns to the Manager monday morning (Kat Gray), I was told "if you don't like it don't come here", so I will never come there again. She was rude derogatory and did not take any of my concerns seriously and called me a derogatory name. Don't go here if you are worried about being exposed to COVID.

  Loud and smelly

  The large indoor pool area is pretty cool and the bar was good enough. Ask for a room away from any outside doors. The smell from people smoking just outside the hotel was wafted into our room with the door closed. The only reprieve from the sound of the door opening and closing was from 11pm to 5am. Many people used the the area on the other side of the wall from our room to knock the snow off their boots. It was the loudest night I've ever spent in a hotel.

  No enforcement of their own COVID policies

  Had to come to Alpena for work. Took the family with me to stay at a poolside room at Ramada for a little getaway. First we checked in and they had the reservation wrong, had only booked us for one night instead as of two so they said we would have to switch rooms after the first nights. Next, we get to the room and see the COVID guidelines laid out, however we open the curtain to the pool room and there were MANY people out there, large majority not wearing any mask at all. There are people sitting at the table for our room, directly outside of our patio door without masks on. I called front desk they said there wasnt anything they could do to enforce this other than tell the people at the table to our room.... well, they didnt or if they did, nothing changed. We decided we wanted to switch hotels. We went to and also called the front desk and spoke to a manager. Despite being there for one hour and them refusing to enforce their own policies, they refused to refund our room. The bar manager I spoke to said that their GM told them not to enforce the policies.

  Absolutely Horrible service, check in, management, and stay

  What a nightmare - The girl at checkout was ignorant, had to walk out with several others. Management wanted to argue on phone about my complaint. How sad. Very poor service. Never will go here again. Wow. and they wonder why they have a high staff turn over rate and why people don't stay there. Had a different customer call in change my room. The management called me 2 days later said that I wasn't even on Security camera and very snooty arguing with me.. That's odd as I was there and last I check I am not invisible. Wanted to charge two credit cards as they did this before. Another guy walked out 3 pm check in said he couldn't get in until after 4. They told another guy that made reservation a month prior where yes they had rooms available gave him room upstairs not pool room but charged him same price. This Hotel is horrible. The lady wanted to argue with me in front of my 10yr old nephew. Save the cluster and headache stay somewhere else.

  It was alright.

  Check in was quick and efficient, staff was helpful with a couple of concerns. Room was ok, it was clean but I felt the cleaning could've been stepped up. The pool area was nice, very loud. The entrance at door #3 was filthy and smelled.
